DNR Ministry of Transport Reported Junta Militants Attacked Trains and Damaged Tracks on Sentyanovka-Shipilova Line

Today, the DNR Ministry of Transport (Mintrans) told us that junta militants fired at locomotives and damaged railway tracks on the Sentyanovka-Shipilova line, saying, “On 25 April at 07.20 at the 47-kilometre-mark of the Sentyanovka-Shipilova line near Popasnaya the Ukrainian side fired RPGs at two shunting locomotive near the Popasnaya marshalling yard”. One of the RPGs hit a wagon; two trainmen received minor injuries and a concussion. In addition to the damaged locomotive, the blast damaged eight sleeper-ties and three rails. In addition, the Mintrans reported that on Sunday 26 April, junta militants damaged the track at the 53-kilometre-mark, noting, “Right-of-way maintenance crews noticed damage on the tracks, but there were no injuries”. Earlier, on 17 March, junta militants sabotaged the Sentyanovka-Shipilova line; they damaged the tracks, leading to a derailment where one wagon left the track. The Mintrans emphasised, “This section is mostly under the control of the Ukrainian side. The constant shelling and sabotage here is due to irregular bands not under the control of the Minoborony Ukrainy, which complicates shipment of the coal mined here”.

Pushilin sez DNR hasn’t Received News of When the Teleconference of the Contact Group Will Occur

Today, D V Pushilin, Vice-Chairman of the DNR Peoples Soviet and DNR Delegate to the Contact Group said, “We still don’t have any information about when the Contact Group teleconference will take place”. Earlier, he said that the delay in the next round of negotiation was due to obstructionism by the Ukrainian side. Repeatedly, the LNR and DNR argued for the urgent implementation of a new round of the Contact Group. The Novorossiyan side insists on a speedy and simultaneous convening of the four core subgroups of the Contact Group:

• on economic issues and rehabilitation
• on refugees, internally displaced persons, and humanitarian assistance
• on political affairs
• on security issues

Meanwhile, an EU-Ukrainian summit opened in Kiev, attended by senior EU representatives, with an agenda focused on three main points:

• providing macro-financial assistance to Kiev
• the conflict in Novorossiya
• preparations for the Riga summit “Eastern Partnership” 21-22 May

According to the British newspaper Financial Times, besides all this, Germany and several other European countries are putting pressure on Kiev to accelerate its implementation of the Minsk agreements, especially the political sections. According to diplomatic sources in Germany, the general position is that “Kiev has to be more compliant”. In turn, a source in UK government circles told the Financial Times that the Ukraine should fulfil its obligations and give Russia room to manoeuvre.

DNR Minoborony Recorded 51 Ceasefire Violations by the Junta Forces Over the Last 24 Hours

The DNR Minoborony told us that the junta forces violated the ceasefire 51 times over the past 24 hours, saying, “In the past day, we recorded 51 incidents of firing on populated points by the Ukrainian side Again, they used artillery. They were supposed to have withdrawn heavy artillery by early March according to Minsk-2, but the enemy used them six times yesterday, along with 5 incidents using tanks, 25 with mortars, 1 with APCs, 1 with anti-aircraft guns, 4 with ATGMs, and 9 with RPGs and small arms. This killed one of our soldiers and seriously wounded another. Ukrainian aggressor (карательных) battalions fired on Novaya Marevka, Shirokino, Gorlovka, Spartak, Zhabichevo, Bezymennoe, and the Oktabyrskaya mine, Volvo-Tsentra, and the Donetsk airport”.

DNR MChS sez Emergency Responders Helped OSCE to Search for Personal Belongings at the MH17 Crash-Site

Today, sources at the DNR MChS told us, “Rescuers from Snezhnoe assisted members of the OSCE in searching the MH17 crash-site. They went over an area of 16 hectares (40 acres) next to the crash-site; they collected personal belongings of passengers and bagged them up”. Forensic experts from Malaysia and the Netherlands resumed work at the MH17 crash-site on 16 April. They’re still searching for wreckage, remains of passengers, and their personal belongings. Already, they’ve removed more than 15 tons of debris from the site. They expect to finish their work on 30 April. Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed on 17 July last year, killing all 298 passengers and crew onboard.
