Plotnitsky sez Attack on Mozgovoi was an Attack on All of Us

Tonight, A B Mozgovoi, commander of the 4 Territorial Defence Battalion (4 BTO) of the LNR Peoples Armed Forces (LNR NM), died in an attack by junta terrorists on the Perevalsk-Lugansk road in Alchevsk Raion. Tentative information suggests that an IED blew up in front of or under Mozgovoi’s vehicle, then, the militants fired machine guns. Provisionally, we believe that there were seven victims in the attack.

Today, LNR Chairman of the Government I V Plotnitsky told us, “The attack on A B Mozgovoi and his companions was an attack on all of us, on the people that protect the LNR’s right to exist. I grieve with all who knew Aleksei Borisovich, and who were his close associates. I had different views from his on political matters, but in fighting for the LNR, we stood shoulder to shoulder. Mozgovoi’s death is only beneficial for the Kiev junta; instead of moving towards peace in the framework of the Minsk accords, they seek to undermine political stability in our republics and push us on a shaky path, leading us to a new escalation of the military conflict. I order the Genprokuratura, the MVD, and LNR NM to special care in searching for those who carried out this assassination”.

Earlier, there were repeated attempts on Mozgovoi’s life. After the last attempt, at the end of March, Mozgovoi said that it was a provocation aimed at destabilising the LNR. In early April, the LNR NM raised 4 Territorial Defence Battalion using Mozgovoi’s Prizraka (Ghost) Mechanised Brigade as the cadre of the unit. This reorganisation was based on the law “On the Territorial Defence of the LNR”, signed by Chairman Plotnitsky on 7 March 2015.

Junta terrorists assassinated LNR Prizraka (Ghost) Mechanised Brigade kombrig* A B Mozgovoi in defiance of the ceasefire. The incident happened near Mikhailovka in the LNR. Anna, his media contact, and three of his guards also died in the ambush. The terrorists sprayed his vehicle with automatic weapons, including a machine gun. Previously, junta terrorists had tried to kill Aleksei Borisovich near the place of the incident, between Mikhailovka and Alechvsk, on the Lugansk-Alchevsk highway. His assistant kombrig confirmed all of this for us. Our editorial team expresses sincere our condolences to Mozgovoi’s family and relatives; his podvig* inscribed his name in the glorious history of Russia and Novorossiya. • Podvig: Should NEVER be “Englished”… one of the most powerful words in the Russian language. There are literally no English equivalents strong enough. Podvig has overtones of “epic”, “heroic”, “bravery”, “self-sacrifice”, “victory”, “effort”, and “triumph”. It’s best to leave it as is, and admit that English lacks the necessary material to give meaning to this word.

LifeNews learned some of the details of the Mozgovoi assassination (and here) near Mikhailovka in the LNR. It turned out that Mozgovoi, his media contact Anna, 2 guards, and his security chief died, caught in the crossfire. An IED blew up in front of the vehicle, then, the terrorists opened up with small arms, including machine guns. This wasn’t the first attempt on his life.  One was on the evening of 7 March on the outskirts of Mikhailovka at a checkpoint… not far from the place of today’s attack. A car bomb went off, triggered by remote control. Aleksei Borisovich only received slight fragment wounds, but the explosion heavily damaged his Toyota Sequoia. After this incident, LifeNews interviewed Mozgovoi. A month before that, at Lisichansk, terrorists fired at his vehicle, but he wasn’t inside, it only members of his unit.

A B Mozgovoi raised and led LNR Prizraka (Ghost) Mechanised Brigade in August 2014. Since then, this unit was in the forefront of the battles in the conflict in Novorossiya, including the Debaltsevo Pocket, where patriot forces surrounded and destroyed 7,000 junta aggressors. Mozgovoi was a well-known figure, not only in Kiev, but also in the West. In particular, Aleksei Borisovich was on the February 2015 EU blacklist. At the time, he said that this move testified to his military competence.

Могильщику копать удобно.
И соловьи всё будут петь,
В последний раз, так бесподобно.

Под грохот первых майских гроз,
Вместо унылых отпеваний…
И дождь, прольётся вместо слёз,
Он смоет грусть воспоминаний.

Могильный холмик приютит,
Под покрывалом трав зелёных.
Пусть даже крест там не стоит,
Среди берёзок утомленных.

Под шелест листьев молодых,
Что только к жизни потянулись.
Пока ещё нет трав седых,
А только, только всё проснулось.

Не плохо в мае умереть…
Остаться в свежести весенней.
И хоть не смог я всё успеть,
Но не осталось уж сомнений…

DNR Minoborony Reported 27 Junta Ceasefire Violations

Today, the DNR Minoborony reported, “Over the past 24 hours, the enemy committed 27 ceasefire violations. They used artillery again, against the Minsk Agreements. The enemy fired at us twice with artillery, four times from tanks, twice from anti-aircraft guns, 12 times with mortars, once with ATGMs, and 6 times with RPGs and small arms. They fired at Donetsk (Kievsky Raion, Oktyabrsky Mine, Donetsk airport), Debaltsevo, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Spartak, Zhabichevo, Lozovoe, and Kalinovka. Currently, it isn’t clear whether there were civilian or military casualties”.
