Zakharchenko sez Kiev Doesn’t Have Control Over Irregular Units

00 Azov Battalion APC. 23.08.14

Today, DNR Chairman of the Government A V Zakharchenko told journalists that the junta and its armed forces don’t have control over irregular nationalist battalions. He stated, “Wherever the Dnepr-1, Aidar, and Azov Battalions, and those like them, appear, well, what happens then? There’s shelling and attacks begin. If they don’t have control over these units, how can there be any talk [about a peaceful settlement]?  Kiev obviously has no control over these units. At any time, these so-called ‘volunteer units’ can pick up and leave the conflict zone and go wherever they want to, no matter what their formal orders are. The [Dnepr Battalion] took off for Kiev, they captured a building, so, the whole world got to see who was really boss in Kiev”. Aleksandr Vladimirovich was relating how militants of the so-called Dnepr Battalion took over the headquarters of Ukrnafta, the largest oil and gas company in the Ukraine.
