Even in Vorkuta, above the Arctic Circle, they have a summer. Sure, it isn’t as hot as more southern climes, but it IS summer, and people can do “summer things”. Well… yesterday, Dame Winter came calling in the midst of summer. The snow didn’t “stick”, but it did fall, and here’s a picture to prove that it happened… winter in July… where was Ded Moroz and Snegurochka?

An informed source told us that junta militants from the 24 Aidar Battalion clashed with elements of the junta 92 Mechanised Brigade near Schastya in a “blue-on-blue” friendly fire incident, saying, “They were at again this morning. Earlier, they argued before exchanging fire, but today they really hammered each other with artillery and mortars. This exchange of fire set the town’s House of Pioneers ablaze; it’s considered an architectural landmark”. Earlier reports stated that a delegation of the Humanitarian Affairs subgroup of the Contact Group led by Toni Frisch came under mortar fire near Schastya.

Today, the LNR Minoborony stated, “Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian side violated the ceasefire 8 times. They fired at Oboznoe and Veselaya Gora, the area around the monument to Knyaz Igor, and our force’s positions on the Seversky Donets River near Luganskoe. Within two hours, 13.05 to 15.00, they shelled the T-shaped intersection in Oboznoe and Veselaya Gora with 8.2-cm mortars. OSCE Monitoring Mission staff had to take shelter from the shelling in a drainpipe. The Ukrainian side fired tank guns, 12-cm/8.2-cm mortars, automatic grenade launchers, and small arms. There were no military or civilian casualties”.

Today, the DNR Minoborony reported, “Over the past 24 hours, the enemy committed 26 ceasefire violations, using artillery, the situation remains tense. The enemy fired 38 artillery shells, 23 tank shells, and 67 8.2-cm/12-cm mortar shells; in addition, they used ATGMs, RPGs, and small arms. They fired at Donetsk (Petrovky and Kuibyshev Raions, Oktyabrsky Mine, Donetsk Airport), Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Kalinovka, Nikolaevka, Zaitsevo, Zhabichevo, Golmovsky, and Spartak. Two civilians in Gorlovka received wounds in last night’s shelling”.
