Kiev Pushing Donbass Away from Integration with the Ukraine

LNR Chairman of the Government I V Plotnitsky said at a roundtable How to Integrate the Donbass into Russia:

What’s happening, then, is that Kiev pokes and pushes us away from any form of union with the Ukraine. Today, we only have one option left… to go back to our own family. Our objective is to integrate the LNR with the Russian Federation… this is most likely inevitable, as it conforms to the fundamental interests and aspirations of our people. When our people realised the attitude of the Ukrainians, it just further strengthened our orientation towards Russia, as opinion polls confirm. Polls in spring 2014 showed that about 20 to 23 percent of those questioned wanted to join Russia. Today, it’s more like 60 percent.

Plotnitsky sez Desire in the Donbass for Integration with Russia of Long Standing

LNR Chairman of the Government I V Plotnitsky said at a roundtable How to Integrate the Donbass into Russia:

As an individual, of course, I not only support but also fully share this desire [for integration with Russia]. This isn’t something new… we just didn’t come up with it… it’s been around a long time. Unfortunately, the situation in which we now find ourselves, makes people wonder, even those who aren’t much given to reflection and just want a quiet life. Today, we’ve passed the point of no return… people don’t feel and think that they’re a part of the Ukraine. We understand that this so-called brother is really an enemy. They substituted a juggernaut for friendship. People in the Perevalsk area want to create a movement joining Russia, so, the government should listen to the voice of the people, to understand what the people say, to see what they support, for the further development of our Republic.

Formal Integration of the LNR and DNR into the Russian Federation Could Take a Long Time

Denis Denisov, Head of the Ukrainian Department of the Institute of the SNG Countries said at a roundtable How to Integrate the Donbass into Russia:

In my opinion, it’s obvious that the DNR and LNR are effectually part of the Russian Federation. However, it isn’t formalised nor has it any overt political foundation. Indeed, formalising this union may take a long time. Yet, my firm belief is that Russia won’t leave us in the lurch. Before there could be an accession to the Russian Federation, we’d have to hold referendums in the LNR and DNR. Such referendums would be very useful; they’d show the world how our people support this integration. As far as formal documents go, we could take the decision at any time to completely integrate our Republics in the Russian Federation.

DNR Minoborony Reported 8 Junta Ceasefire Violations

Today, the DNR Minoborony reported:

Over the past 24 hours, the fascist aggressors committed 8 ceasefire violations; the situation in the DNR remains relatively calm. The enemy fired at Staromikhailovka, Spartak, and Donetsk (Petrovsky Raion) from positions near Krasnogorovka, Butovka Mine, and Maryinka . The aggressors used MICVs, mortars, and small arms. Currently, there’s no information on military or civilian casualties.
