DNR Head of Government A V Zakharchenko stated on his official website that the Ukrainian political party Opposition Bloc could only enter local elections after it publicly repudiates the actions of the Kiev régime:
Specifically speaking about the Opposition Bloc, well, it could set an example for other Ukrainian parties and bring public repentance for what Kiev has done in the Donbass. If it wishes to enter Donbass politics, it must issue public contrition [for Kiev’s actions]. I don’t see any other options for them. Those Ukrainian parties that didn’t protest against and categorically condemn the so-called “Anti-Terrorist Operation” in the Donbass or kept silent about their position on the DNR were just as criminal as those factions that actually hysterically supported the [Ukrainian aggression]. However, if the Opposition Bloc, or any other Ukrainian party, would issue a public request for forgiveness, well, they could take part in elections in the Donbass. Of course, they’d have to change their laws to agree with ours.
Earlier, Boris Kolesnikov, the head of the Ukrainian political party Opposition Bloc, said that his party is ready to take part in local elections in the DNR and LNR, but only if the authorities ran them according to contemporary [post-coup] Ukrainian legislation.
