People forget that Scotland isn’t part of England… the Scots were allies of the French in the Hundred Years War; the Auld Alliance was no joking matter. Therefore, the modern Anglos shouldn’t count on the Scots always being on their side… after all, history tells us that they often were not… contemporary Russia WOULD be a trusty counterweight against England, just as France was in earlier times…

The “Panfilovtsy” were the men of the 316 Rifle Division (the term Panfilovtsy comes from the name of Major General I V Panfilov, the divisional commander… he fell in battle before Moscow), who helped stop the Nazis in front of Moscow. This new movie, The 28 Panfilovtsev (it’s tough to English this… an idiomatic translation would be The 28 Guys from Panfilov’s Lot or Panfilov’s 28) is a gritty and uncompromising telling of the story of the bravery of the Red Army soldiers who stopped the fascist filth and threw them back to Berlin. The uniforms and equipment are authentic (or made to look authentic)… it’s meant to be an uncompromising unemotional retelling of how Russians beat back Western aggression… that does have contemporary overtones, doesn’t it? After its brave (and quite real) podvig* of resistance against the fascists, the division became the 8 Guards Division Panfilovskaya.
Note well that the American “conservative” filth spread lies about the bravery of these men… no Russian or Orthodox Christian can have ANYTHING to do with such amoral greedsters and liars. Why congregate with those who lie about us, believe us inferior, who want to slice our throats, and whose intent is to destroy our faith and culture? The Western irreligious are merely irritants, they’re no existential threat, but Western “conservatives” want to replace the True Faith with treacly “Evangelical” goo and replace godly Slavic coöperation and communitarianism with selfish Anglo greed and godless “Free Markets”. Friends don’t let friends have ANYTHING to do with Republicans or “Evangelicals”…

Bearing in mind that the Convertadox and Internet Phonies are going to gas interminably about the Lent, I asked several young priests (both OCA and ROCOR) to tell me who they thought was the best up-and-coming theologian. I stopped after four… they all gave me the same name and the same link! They all said, “Fr Sergei Sveshnikov”. They sent me this link… it’s a real “read n’ heed”, kids. Much (if not most) of that posted on Pravmir is rubbish… some good does come mixed in with the dreck, and this is a prime example. I’d recommend this as a pre-Lenten read… Fr Sergei has his shit together, no doubt about it. One of the most important seasons of the Church is coming up (Easter Lent)… it leads to the most important event of the Christian Year, the Holy Easter. As the Apostle put it, If Christ be not risen from the dead, your faith is in vain…
