TO:

His Eminence André Cardinal Vingt-Trois, Archbishop of Paris, Chairman of the Bishops’ Conference of France

Your Eminence!

With a sense of deep sorrow, we received the news of the terrible crime in a Catholic church in Rouen… a terakt* during liturgy, which led to a hostage situation and to the killing of Priest Jacques Hamel. This heinous crime occurred in the Holy Place. It was striking in its inhuman cruelty; it violated every moral norm. It doesn’t and can’t have any justification. I express my sincere condolences to you, to the clergy and faithful of the Roman Catholic Church in France, and to the relatives, friends, and spiritual children of the murdered pastor. May God, who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life (Gospel according to St John 3.16), give rest to the soul of His servant in the mansions of heaven, give comfort and support to the victims, and give peace and blessing to the French people.

  • Terakt: Russian acronym for “terrorist action”

When a Christian or group of Christians dies because they trust that Christ is the faithful revelation of God and of a new humanity, their death is not like Obi-Wan Kenobi’s last words to Darth Vader, “Strike me down and I’ll become more powerful than you could imagine”. Resurrection isn’t about returning to fight worldly means of power with the powers known to this world. No… as the Body of Christ, our death is like the death of Jesus, a great humility accepted voluntarily for the life of the world… with all kinds of conflicting human emotions. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”… even friends that at the moment look a lot like enemies. Our hope (and our vindication) isn’t in a resurrection that makes us more powerful than our temporal enemies, but a resurrection to eternal life… a great victory for ALL persons over the enemies of all whom God has made in His image, all whom God cherishes… every last human-being. Those enemies are sin, famine, disease, pestilence, sword, decay, calamities, death, and the Accuser. If we’re in Christ, our enemies are no longer our human brothers and sisters.

Editor:

You can say what you will about Cardinal Seán… he walks the walk when it comes to aiding the poor and needy (a good Orthodox analogue would be Bishop Panteleimon Shatov). This Sunday, light a candle when you go to liturgy and say a private prayer for the repose of Fr Jacques… priests can say a private prayer as they do the Proskomidi. The canons allow this. We’re Christians… that’s what we do.

Look at HH… he shows us the way. ‘Nuff said…

We were against Chilly Hilly for her dishonesty, corruption, and willingness to go to war… that hasn’t changed. See ya in November…

The media loves to ask if our campaign is helping Donald Trump. Why don’t they ask why the Democratic Party sabotaged Bernie Sanders, who consistently beat Trump by double digits in national polls? Clinton, Trump, and their morally bankrupt parties aren’t entitled to your vote. It’s your right to vote for what you believe in. That’s how we’ll win.

Poroshenko Hastily Left the Ukraine

It’s getting hot in the Ukraine. Turchinov said they might introduce martial law. In Kiev, Pavel Sheremet died in a car explosion. In the Donbass… the situation escalates. Yet, at such a time, Interior Minister Avakov went on holiday… as did Klitschko, the Mayor of Kiev. They weren’t the only ones to do so. According to sources in the Ukrainian State Aviation Administration, on 22 July, late in the evening, from Zhulyan, a private Gulfstream 200 jet with Poroshenko onboard took off on a flight to Malaga (Spain). Media sources report that Poroshenko has a villa Near Malaga. Poroshenko’s holiday and his absence in the capital were off the record, without publicity. From his Spanish estate, he can still issue orders. For example, on Monday, he gave instructions to the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Kiev to strengthen security measures. However, here’s the question… why did the Ukrainian leadership suddenly decide to leave the Ukraine? Is something brewing? No one has an answer to this question.

Archbishop Adam Dubec of Przemyśl-Nowy Sącz Died

______________________________

During the afternoon of 24 July, Archbishop Adam Dubec of Przemyśl-Nowy Sącz died. Archbishop Adam was born in the Lemko village of Florynka in 1926. His way in life was hard; in his teen years, he experienced war, and he lived through the tragic expulsion of 1947, sending time in internal exile. He became a priest, giving devoted service to the Orthodox Church and its people.

One could speak of his many successes, but the one of the most important events of his diocese was the canonisation of the Holy Hieromartyr Maxim Sandowicz of Gorlice, which, after many years of efforts, took place on 5-6 September 1994. It occurred in Żdyni and Gorlice on the 80th anniversary of Fr Maxim’s martyrdom. Another achievement was the building of many churches and new rectories for the clergy.

Another notable event was the Exaltation (прославлення) of the Wonderworking Icon of the Godbearer of Sanok, held at the diocesan cathedral in Sanok on 7 September 1997. This icon of the Godbearer showered many graces on believers in Sanok, bringing many people comfort, solace, and answers to prayer. Archbishop Adam led all the parishes of the diocese in the solemn celebration of the Millennium of the Baptism of Rus in 1988. In 2000, he led a celebration of the 2,000th anniversary of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. In publishing, Archbishop Adam oversaw the printing of an Orthodox Church Calendar in the Ukrainian language. The crowning achievement of 30 years of revival in the Diocese was the return of Orthodoxy to Rzeszow. Archbishop Adam consecrated the Orthodox parish church in Rzeszów on 7 September 2013. Archbishop Adam was the leading light behind the planning and building of this edifice.

The funeral will be on Wednesday 27 July in Sanok at 09.00. His Beatitude Sawa, Metropolitan of Warsaw and all Poland, will serve, along with other clergy.

Вечная ему память
