Guccifer 2.0, the hacker behind multiple US Democratic Party leaks, revealed a new batch of documents from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The new leak includes documents on congressional races in several districts in Florida. The documents, titled “Path to Victory Summary” and “Campaign Overview”, contain various strategies for winning specific races. Strategies include particular targets for gaining support within various population groups, such as women, racial minorities, and people of various ages, as well as points such as “leverage early vote to increase turnout in favourable demographic groups and geographic areas”. The hacker wrote on his website in a post containing a number of DCCC electoral campaign documents:
Here are DCCC docs on Florida… reports, memos, briefings, dossiers, etc. You can have a look at who you’re going to elect now. It may seem the congressional primaries are also becoming a farce.
The leak comes ahead of elections for the US House of Representatives, due alongside the US presidential election on 8 November. The hacker’s previous leaks from the 2016 Democratic National Convention included personal dossiers and data on most congressional Democrats, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and party donors. Guccifer 2.0 follows in the footsteps of Romanian hacker Marcel Lehel Lazar, who was the original Guccifer, in leaking Democratic Party documents. US intelligence agencies accused Guccifer 2.0 of having links to Russian intelligence. Both Russia and the hacker deny these allegations.
