On 9 November, Donald Trump won the US presidential election despite most analysts and opinion polls predicting his defeat to Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump got 276 electoral votes against Hillary Clinton’s 218, out of 270 needed to win. Donald Trump’s rise to the presidency exposed deep flaws in the American political system, resulting in huge numbers of people using their vote to kick the Establishment, epitomised by over 20 years of domination by the Bush and Clinton families.
