19 November 2016. The Western Media and Politicians Ignored This…

This little girl’s name is not Omran! She is Raha Hasan and her little body could not handle the level of “freedom”, that hit her house in Western Aleppo today!

Syrian News 1

Hillary Clinton applauds this. Trump’s CIA Director-designate applauds this. Bannon (Trump’s Streicher) applauds this. John Kerry applauds this. By supporting and arming the terrorists in Syria, the USA has blood up to its elbows, and it just cackles away in juvenile hubris and cruelty.

I call this evil… I’ll confide that I’m not alone in thinking that way…

The Final Countdown: Syrian Army Prepares to Storm East Aleppo

RIA Novosti reported that the Syrian Army, supported by the National Defence Forces, is preparing a large-scale operation to sweep the militant-held eastern districts of Aleppo. According to Arab experts, up to 7,000 militants remain in Aleppo’s eastern districts. On Thursday, Syrian forces fired artillery against fortified enemy positions in the neighbourhoods of Tariq al-Bab, Salikhin, Shaar, and Es Sukkar, along the terrorists’ first line of defence. The shelling came as Syrian warplanes staged airstrikes on the militants’ logistical hubs in Khan al-Asal, Kafr Hamra, and Haraytan. In addition, the militants lost most of their armoured vehicles and heavy machine gun-armed off-road vehicles. RIA Novosti sources specifically pointed to the fact that the terrorists still give stubborn resistance as the Syrian Army continues to advance on their strongholds near Aleppo. On Friday morning, west of Aleppo, Syrian Air Force planes destroyed one of the key command centres of  Jaish al-Fath militants. In addition, north of Aleppo, airstrikes obliterated several command posts of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (previously known as al-Nusra). Currently, élite Syrian units deploy in nine key points around the city, waiting for the order to start clearing terrorist-controlled areas. Witnesses said that the situation inside eastern Aleppo is unstable, with militants strengthening control over mosques to avoid possible civil unrest. Many people in Aleppo are dissatisfied that the terrorists didn’t allow them to take advantage of the ceasefire to leave the city through one of the humanitarian corridors. Instead, the terrorists continue to use civilians as human shields, so people respond by staging protest rallies. Right now, terrorist groups related to Jabhat al-Nusra hold thousands of civilians in the eastern neighbourhoods of Aleppo, keeping them from fleeing via designated humanitarian corridors.

Obama Could Pardon Snowden, but Won’t… New CIA Pick Says to Execute Him

00 Thank You Edward Snowden

US President Barack Obama stated that he can’t pardon NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, a claim that isn’t entirely true. The incoming Trump administration took an even tougher stance… execute him. Earlier this week, Obama said in an online interview with German media outlet Der Spiegel:

I can’t pardon somebody who hasn’t gone before a court and presented themselves.

However, there are apparently no legislative restrictions on a presidential pardon. According to a Supreme Court ruling from 1886:

The power of pardon conferred by the Constitution upon the President is unlimited except in cases of impeachment. It extends to every offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment. The power isn’t subject to legislative control.

As P S Ruckman, editor of the Pardon Power blog, put it:

I just think what he may have better said is, “I prefer that he present himself to a court and then we’ll talk turkey”, but technically, in terms of the Constitution, there are no restrictions at all.

Mike Pompeo, President-Elect Donald Trump’s pick for CIA director took a draconian position on the issue. Instead of pardoning the NSA whistleblower, he supports imprisoning Snowden and following a course of law that’d likely lead to the death penalty. In an interview with C-SPAN earlier in the year, Pompeo said:

He should be brought back from Russia and given due process, and I think that the proper outcome would be that he’d be given a death sentence for having put friends of mine, friends of yours, in the military today, at enormous risk because of the information he stole and then released to foreign powers.

Pompeo is notorious for his attitudes toward Islamic faith leaders, bulk surveillance, and Guantánamo Bay. For instance, as he said, the fact that many terrorist attacks come from people of a single faith should place special obligations on leaders of that faith. He said in remarks on the House floor:

Instead of responding, silence has made these Islamic leaders across America potentially complicit in these acts and more importantly still, in those that may well follow.

Later, the Council on American Islamic Relations called these remarks “false and irresponsible”.

We Stand in Solidarity with People Under Attack

This is what Trump supporters want to whitewash… the crimes of their ancestors… that’s what “greatness” means them… the ability to hurt and grab whenever you want to, with no consequence or penalty. I call that evil…

The Stein/Baraka campaign expresses outrage at the horrific attacks and threats levelled at communities that are in the crosshairs of a Trump presidency. We acknowledge the real heartache, pain, and worry that people of colour, women, immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQIA+, poor, and working people feel. We also wish to express our deep sorrow at the attacks against many Green Party supporters over the past few months, attacks that intensified in the last few days. Our supporters, friends, and staff reported being targets of a steady stream of harassment, abuse, and threats, up to and including death threats. These attacks didn’t only come from virulent racist Trump supporters, they were also in large part from Clinton supporters, who seem to think it’s okay to vilify, swear at, spit on, and make threats against those who disagree; those who chose to exercise their right to vote how they see fit; those who decided  that the two-party system itself is the problem.

We must see and call out hateful behaviour, from wherever it comes from across the political spectrum, for what it is… deplorable. We must recognise that many people around this country don’t feel safe. We must stand with people of colour, with immigrants and indigenous people, with Muslims, Jews, LGBTQIA+ people, women, and with all whose rights are under threat. Solidarity must be our guiding principle. We’re committed to peaceful non-violent actions to oppose any racist, sexist, homophobic, and other harmful acts enacted or inspired by a Trump presidency, and provide real protection and support for people of colour and communities that come under threat.

We also stand with Greens around the country and the world who’ve endured bullying and threats for having the courage of their convictions to stand up against the establishment and corporate two-party rule. The Stein/Baraka ticket ran a principled campaign that unapologetically stood with marginalised peoples and their struggles around this country. We stand firm with these communities against all attacks, as well as with our supporters who stood with us in this dark time. We stand firm for a truly progressive agenda to put people, planet, and peace over profit, the only counterweight to the rising wave of rightwing extremism in the USA and the world. We must stand with each other, take care of each other, and give ourselves the collective strength and support to build our political power. We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for.
