“Goodbye Europe!” Der Spiegel Depicts Trump as Middle Finger Flipping Off EU Amidst Iran Deal Tensions

German magazine Der Spiegel released its latest issue, with a cover featuring Donald Trump on a middle finger, flipping the bird. It comes just days after the USA angered Europe by walking away from the Iran nuclear deal. Reaction from EU officials is still pouring in since Trump announced his decision earlier this week, so it didn’t take long before the cover was retweeted by French Ambassador to the US Gerard Araud. On Friday, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also had a few words to say to Der Spiegel about Washington pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal, saying:

The USA has shown very little willingness to take the arguments of its allies seriously. The decision has already taken hold of transatlantic ties.

Der Spiegel’s tone on the cover was matched inside the magazine, with an editorial titled “Time for Europe to Join the Resistance”. The article said that US President Donald Trump is “only proficient in destruction”, referencing his pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal and Paris climate agreement. The self-explanatory cover came just one day after German Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel said that Europe can no longer count on the USA, and must take matters into its own hands. French President Emmanuel Macron, who agreed with Merkel, echoed that sentiment, “Something should be done”.

Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal despite America’s three biggest allies (the UK, Germany, and France) putting forth their best efforts to convince him to stick with the landmark agreement signed in 2015. However, the US President walked away from what he deems the “worst deal ever negotiated” on Tuesday. Much like Merkel and Macron, the decision also left EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to say that the USA must be replaced as a leader on the international stage because it has “lost vigour”. As for Merkel, it seems that Trump’s Iran decision didn’t entirely fuel her statement. Last year, she made a similar statement following a G7 summit, when attendees of the meeting were unable to convince the US President to stay with the Paris Climate Agreement. She said at the time:

The times in which we could completely depend on others are on the way out. I’ve experienced that in the last few days.

German Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel said:

The times in which we could rely on others completely… they’re partly past. I experienced this in recent days. So I can only say… we Europeans must truly take our destiny into our own hands.

Clueless Americans, both “conservative” and “liberal” are misreading this. Merkel is saying loud n’ clear for the whole world to hear:

If the USA refuses to act rationally, we’ll ally ourselves with Moscow and Beijing. We’ll become part of the “One Belt-One Road” and bugger the USA.

Don’t forget… Merkel grew up in the DDR and she speaks Russian. Yes… Putin’s duty-station was in the DDR and he speaks German. Fancy that. Russia’s position is that Europe and Russia are natural partners, unlike the USA’s Euro-Atlanticist vision. Trump and the Republicans had best take a care… if Germany were to realign with Russia most of Europe would follow. The only place that the USA would retain on its side would be the UK… if it managed to stay together. I’d watch Scotland and Ireland…

That’s why “conservatism” is objectively evil… they put money in the place of God, whilst mouthing saccharine pseudo-religious platitudes (diaspora Orthodox people should hang their head in shame… all too many of us are taken in by the Pro-Life movement and its GOP Greedster backers). V V Putin walks unafraid… Obama, Cruz, Chilly Hilly, Rubio, Butcher Biden, Rand Paul… it doesn’t matter… they’re all the same. They’re the real tyrants… if you can’t see that, you’re blind… and you want to be a slave to the oligarchs (you’ve never lived better… we say so!)!

On behalf of all the citizens of the LNR, I’d like to thank the German and French leadership for their public appeal to the Kiev authorities to amend the Ukrainian constitution to reflect the special status of the Donbass. I’d hope that Poroshenko, Lozhkin, and Groisman hear this appeal and stop sabotaging the Minsk agreements. The draft amendments to the constitution that they propose have only one vague phrase [on the special status], not in the main text proper, only in the transitional provisions, which precludes any consolidation of special status on a permanent basis. We insist on a full compliance with the Minsk-2 accords, that they amend the constitution as they agreed with us, and that such amendments contain a description of such special status, above all, the rights of the Donbass in its legal relations with the Kiev authorities. We’re grateful to Angela Merkel and François Hollande for their support.
