3 August 2015. Read n’ Heed Time… Vox Pop on Charity and Compassion…

I got this from a friend…

So many people think about being charitable around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year, but there are opportunities this time of year, too. The supplies list that schools require now has gotten long. Due to budget cuts, many basics that the school supplied when I was in school decades ago (paper, pencils, etc.) aren’t supplied at all. Teachers often buy many things out-of-pocket. Do some online searching or asking around… are any organisations giving out school supplies in your area? If you can’t find anything, contact your local grammar school. I bet they’d be delighted to get donations of supplies. Maybe, you could even make it into a parish charity project. If you personally know a family in need, send them a gift card (even anonymously) to help with their children’s back to school expenses. If the family is a member of your parish, ask your priest to serve as the go-between for any donations. Kids are often cruel to have-nots, and even something as simple as having store-brand crayons instead of the name-brand ones can lead to kids being ridiculed and teased. I saw notebooks and folders going for five for a dollar at the big box stores this weekend. Even if someone only has a couple of dollars to spare, every little bit helps, and the sales make your dollars stretch further. Just a thought.

Hear, hear. Bear this in mind… school budgets are in the fix that they’re in because the Republican greedster asshats want to fight wars perpetually… that means that everything else sucks hind tit. The Church SUPPORTS education and social justice… it OPPOSES warmongering, the death penalty, greed, and Me First Crapitalism. Don’t vote for godless Republican nihilists. As for charity and compassion, I’ve heard from reputable sources that it’s contagious… try it, you might like it. You can stand for Justice or you can stand for Greed. Greed (NOT homosexuality… NOT abortion) is the root of all evil. Since the Republicans embody “Greed is Good”, that does give you a hint about what to do. Think on this… BERNIE is the candidate most in step with the Mind of the Church overall… fancy that…

Putin Hails Traditionalism as Core of Russian National Identity

00 There'll Always be a Russia. Summer in the Village. 21.09.13

______________________________

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin touted traditionalism as the heart of the Russian national identity; lamenting threats like globalisation and multiculturalism, the drive for a “unipolar world”, and the erosion of Christian values… including an exaggerated focus on the rights of sexual minorities. addressing several hundred Russian and foreign officials, scholars and other public figures at a Kremlin-backed conference in northwestern Russia, Putin said, “Without the values at the core of Christianity and other world religions, without the moral norms that’ve been shaped over millennia, inevitably, people would lose their human dignity”. In a speech and question-answer session lasting over three hours at the 10th annual meeting of the so-called Valdai Club, broadcast live on Russian television and news websites, Putin lambasted “Euro-Atlantic countries” where “any traditional identity, including sexual identity, is rejected. Their policy equates families with many children with same-sex families, belief in God with belief in Satan. Any minority’s right to be different must be respected, but the right of the majority mustn’t be questioned”. Putin shifted toward conservative rhetoric ever since returning to the Kremlin for a third time in 2012, after a four-year term as prime minister. Regularly, he’s promoted traditional values in public speeches… a move that political analysts saw as an attempt to rally his conservative core constituency in the face of growing public discontent and a slowing economy. Many of the liberal values criticised in his speech are associated with the urban middle class that was a driving force behind large-scale anti-Kremlin protests in Moscow after controversial parliamentary elections in late 2011.

Editor’s Note:

Caveat lector! The article uses the words “conservative” and “liberal” in their Russian meaning. That is, “liberal” means anti-traditional Neoliberalism, which INCLUDES laissez-faire crapitalism, so-called “libertarianism”, and individualism. On the other hand, “conservative” means the philosophy of Graf Stolypin and the Church, NOT the fantasies of the US Republican Party, Fox News, and the National Review. I’d mention that many leftists are more “conservative” than most righties… all that you need to see are the many towns wrecked by “investors” pulling out for areas willing to “deregulate”. That’s NOT Conservative with a large “C”, kids. Socialists are more conservative than the “conservatives”… who woulda thunk it…

17 August 2012. A Point to Ponder… The Rat Race… Are You Working More and Enjoying Life Less?

______________________________

THIS is what the “world”, BOTH “conservative” and “liberal” puts up as a “good”. To speak frankly, I find it more than slightly barmy and ridiculous. Is THIS what you want? Do give it a thought before answering…

24 March 2012. A True “Point to Ponder” From One of My Kitchen Cabinet

Cooperation and the Corporate Good are Christian values… Greed and “Personal Responsibility” are Anti-Christian pseudo-values. What does that tell you about those who trumpet the virtues of Capitalism, Corporate Rule, and Consumerism (the Three Deadly “C”s)? Remember, the Scripture tells us that the Anti-Christ will “fool the ‘elect'”… that is, he’ll look like God, not the Devil. Then, reflect on what Radical American Sectarianism really points to… it’s scary, isn’t it? Christ or Jayzuss? Almighty God or the Almighty Dollar? It IS up to you…

______________________________

Contrary to the “thinking” of “conservative” pseudo-“Christians”, egalitarianism isn’t antithetical to Christianity, but a lack of egalitarianism is indicative of paganism, as paganism’s polytheistic. Each individual (or in more primitive homogeneous societies, each group) feels himself subject to his own god or goddess. At a practical level, this means that the distinctive values, standards, goals, and laws of each deity govern the lives of that deity’s worshippers. Thus, pagan society’s polyvalent… a single moral standard doesn’t govern the lives of men, and, except by force majeure, no god, and no corresponding set of human values, is superior to any other one. Consequently, pagan societies tend to become inegalitarian (“unequal”). Different standards for different groups inevitably leads to factional competition (not cooperation); and, in time, force majeure, indeed, becomes the rule… might soon comes to make RIGHT. Zeus rules because he is strongest, for no other reason, he’s certainly NOT the wisest.
