IT News reported that a team of international astrophysicists developed a unique protocol for communication and dialogue with any extraterrestrial civilisations out there. They named this universal language for inter-species communication METI; it has a number of characteristic factors in its signal, which include the encoding, length, and content of its message. Researchers will broadcast it using two main frequencies, 1.42 GHz or 4.46 GHz, which an extraterrestrial civilisation of even “modest technological abilities” would find easy to receive.

In 1974, scientists sent the very first signal aimed at extraterrestrial civilisations, a simple binary code formed the basis of its message. However, after that, scientists sent many more messages into space, which, over time, became more and more incomprehensible. Therefore, to ensure “clarity”, METI will set up an international protocol, involving people of different nationalities, culture, and religions. By using the website, researchers using the protocol would be able to send messages to each other, and the system, after successful encoding, would make a perfect “transconceptual” message to any aliens, and, after that, broadcast it into the depths of space. One of the astrophysicists said, “Given the fact that we know almost nothing about extraterrestrial civilisations, their nature, environment, and social relationships, we’d increase the probability of successful communication with them if we use clear terms and concepts in any message that we sent to them”.
