Lavrov sez: “We Won’t Leave the People of the Donbass in the Lurch”

War damage in the Donbass… the fighting continues… but for how much longer?

Minister of Foreign Affairs S V Lavrov said in an interview:

Our efforts will continue to aim at preventing “hotheads” in Kiev from starting a new cycle of violence in the southeast. In any case, we won’t leave the people of the Donbass in the lurch. The process of settlement in the southeast stalled because of the persistent reluctance of the Ukrainian leadership to fulfil its obligations under the Minsk Agreements. We’ll continue to work hard to make Kiev stop its blockade of the Donbass and proceed to a full implementation [of the Minsk Agreements]. We expect a similar attitude from the West, as they’ve repeatedly claimed that they want a speedy implementation of the Minsk Agreements, as they stated that there’s no alternative to them. The main point of the Minsk Agreements is that there should be direct dialogue between Kiev and Donetsk and Lugansk. Neither Russia nor the new US president nor anyone else will be able to do anything for the parties to the conflict, for a settlement depends upon direct negotiations between the parties on mutual guarantees of security and the principles of building a common future.

“We’re Brothers; We’re One!”: Aleksei Zhuravko’s Thoughts on His Birthday

Dear Friends!

Thank you so much for the kind words and for the good wishes [on my birthday]. I want to tell you that many people from the Ukraine congratulated me. Not everyone thinks I’m separatist and a traitor. On my birthday, many wrote me telling that they understand exactly what’s happening in the Ukraine and who actually brought us to this mess. Everyone who wrote me said one thing:

We’re brothers; we’re one!

I’m sure that things will get change for the better and there’ll be peace for all of us. It’s going to be as it was in earlier times; we’re going to live together without borders. I want to say a separate “thank you” to all my friends who are in the occupied part of the Ukraine, who oppose the invaders of my beloved country. I’d like to say the same to the people who support me in the current fight against fascism. Once again, thank you all! I bow in respect before all of you! I love all of you!

In Respect,

Aleksei Zhuravko

DNR Honcho Zakharchenko Visits Front Several Times a Week… He Expects Intensification of Hostilities Soon

Today, on an online forum beamed at the Ukrainian people, DNR Head of State A V Zakharchenko said:

What’s my schedule? Every day is different. A few times a week, I try to visit the front to chat with the guys, to help them in any way I can. In general, it’s important that if you want to know the war, you have to know what the grunts in the trenches are thinking. Otherwise, you’re just “a general without an army”.

In addition, Zakharchenko receives daily reports from the military and his ministers, after that, he holds working meetings or goes on inspections. Zakharchenko noted:

My usual day ends late at night; sometimes, I must solve urgent problems before morning. Therefore, it’s hard, of course, but not boring. What about rest? I try to find time to get away with my family. That’s the best kind of holiday.

DNR Head of State A V Zakharchenko responded to a question on online media:

In the near future, we expect further intensification [of action on the contact line between our forces]. That’s to put it mildly. Our intelligence reports that the other side is fully prepared to move to full-scale hostilities. Well, we’ve already formed strike groups in vital areas. Yes, we’re waiting for it.

184 Orthodox Churches Will be Open for Easter Services in the DNR

The media service of the DNR MVD reported that 184 Orthodox churches all over the DNR would serve festive services to celebrate Easter, which is on 16 April this year. It noted:

184 houses of worship in the territory of the Republic will serve celebrations to commemorate the Resurrection of Christ.

According to the MVD, before holiday services, they’ll search all churches and surrounding areas for dangerous objects. Police patrols and MChS first responders will be on duty near each church to prevent emergencies and violations of public order. In total, the action will involve about 700 police, including traffic inspectors. The MVD also reminded people that there’s no curfew on Easter evening. However, it reminded people to keep proper public order and promptly report all incidents using the emergency number “102”. In 2017, Orthodox Easter is on 16 April. According to a decision taken by DNR Head of State A V Zakharchenko, there’ll be no curfew on Easter evening to allow people to attend festive church services without problems.
