Pushkov Warned About the Dangers of “an Informational Civil War” in the USA Between the Media and the White House

01 read all about it

Member of the Federation Council A K Pushkov warned of the dangers of “an Informational Civil War” in the USA. There’s now a situation where the White House doesn’t want to brief a number of journalists, and in response, other media outlets boycott events. On Friday, the White House announced that instead of a regular scheduled briefing, there’d be a “no cameras” briefing from official spokesman Sean Spicer. There’d be no live broadcasting, but everybody assumed that all White House-accredited journalists would be able to attend. However, then, according to CNN, the White House media office only invited selected journalists for the briefing, excluding CNN, the New York Times, Politico, the Los Angeles Times, “and other media”. The AP and Time magazine boycotted the event in protest. Aleksei Konstantinovich wrote in his Twitter microblog:

Aggression in the liberal media against Trump and the response of the administration (refusal of access) is unprecedented. It could lead to an informational civil war in the USA.

The Catering Staff of the RF Presidential Administration will Prepare 17,500 Kulichi and more than 5,000 Paskhas

00b Easter 2012. foods

On Tuesday, Viktor Khrekov, a government spokesman, told Interfax-Religion that the catering staff of the RF Presidential Administration would prepare a range of foods for Easter in their own facilities. In particular, they plan to bake kulichi weighing from 500 grammes (1.1 pounds) to 1.3 kilos (2.9 pounds), make tvorog-based paskhas from 100 grammes (4.5 ounces) to 1 kilo (2.2 pounds), and dye chicken and quail eggs and apply Easter appliques to them. The plans call for them to produce and distribute about 17,500 kulichi, more than 5,000 paskhas, and 22,400 dyed eggs. According to size, kulichi will cost 35-600 Roubles (1.00-16.50 USD. 1.10-18.20 CAD. 1.07-17.75 AUD. 0.70-12 Euros. 0.60-9.90 UK Pounds) and paskhas will cost 55-560 Roubles (1.50-15.50 USD. 1.65-17 CAD. 1.60-16.50 AUD. 1.10-11.20 Euros. 0.90-9.25 UK Pounds). In addition, the catering staff is taking orders for kulichi; they’ve arranged a tradeshow of Easter products. Besides this, culinary experts offer advice on how to prepare kulichi, paskhas, and Easter eggs, and teach classes on how to set an “Easter table”. This affects all catering facilities in the Kremlin, the RF Government, the RF Gosduma, the Federation Council, and the Chamber of Accounts. Daily, these dining rooms feed about 15,000 people.

Russia to Respect Democratic Choice in Crimea Referendum

Together Forever!

On Friday morning, delegates from the Supreme Soviet of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea (VS ARK) led by Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov met with RF Gosduma Deputies. RF Gosduma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin announced Russia’s readiness to respect any choice made by citizens of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea (ARK) in the 16 March referendum. He said at the meeting with the VS ARK delegation, “We’ll treat this historic choice of the Crimean population with respect. We’ll support the free and democratic choice of the people of the Crimea and Sevastopol”. Konstantinov said, “No matter what happens to us, the referendum will go ahead; it’ll clarify things for Crimean citizens. It’s obvious that the country that the Crimea once loved no longer exists. We don’t understand this new entity. It’s illegitimate. We’re scared of it”. He pointed up that all the decisions taken by the VS ARK are licit, saying, “We’re heading in the right direction”. Konstantinov noted that the VS ARK decision that the Crimea should return to Russia again is historic, “There’s only one question… will Russia take us back?” At the same time, a rally near the Gosduma building, right before the arrival of the VS ARK delegation, supported Crimean-Russian friendship. Public groups People’s Militia and Officers of Russia organised the rally, whose participants chanted, “Russia and Crimea… Friends Forever”. According to police estimates, about 300 people met where Bolshaya Dmitrovka and Mokhovaya Streets intersect.

A source told us that RF Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko would meet with a VS ARK delegation on Friday, saying, “A large delegation of our Crimean colleagues, led by VS ARK Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov is coming to Moscow. The delegation will meet with the chairmen of both houses of the RF Federal Assembly; the upcoming all-Crimea referendum will be high on the agenda of these negotiations”. Our source also said that the Federation Council would like the Crimean delegation to tell them about the situation in the ARK and in the Ukraine as a whole, to tell us about the progress on the preparations for the referendum, noting, “We’re ready to share our legislative expertise with the VS ARK People’s Deputies. We’ll also discuss the sending of an observation mission composed of Gosduma Deputies and Federation Council members. Another item is on the agenda… we’d like to discuss the prospective development of relations between Russian federal subjects and the Ukraine, the Crimea in particular. In short, we wish to discuss an entire range of political and socioeconomic issues”.

SK Rossii spokesman Vladimir Markin said that authorities in Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk and Voronezh Oblasts opened criminal investigations after local governors received threats allegedly linked to the current situation in the Ukraine, saying, “We opened criminal cases under Article 318 Part 1 of the UK RF ‘Threats to Use Violence Against a Representative of the Authorities or His Family Member in Connection with the Fulfilment of His Professional Duties’”.

On Friday, SK Rossii spokesman Vladimir Markin said that the SK opened a criminal inquiry against Aleksandr Muzichko, the coördinator of the Ukrainian Right Sector ultra-nationalist movement, for involvement in acts of banditry targeting RF forces in Chechnya in the 1990s.  It put Muzichko, nicknamed Sashko Bily, on an international wanted list on suspicion of killing Russian servicemen. Markin said, “Muzichko faces accusations of killing at least 20 soldiers of federal forces held in captivity. Today, we named Muzichko as a defendant and put him on an international wanted list. We filed a petition to put him in custody in Yessentuki City Court in Stavropol Krai. The Main Investigative Department (GSU) of the SK RF in the North Caucasian Federal District opened a criminal case against Ukrainian citizen Aleksandr Muzichko, nicknamed Sashko Bily, under Article 209 Part 1 of UK RF ‘For Formation of a Gang to Attack Russian Citizens and Heading It’. We opened this criminal case due to information obtained in our investigation of a clash between illegal armed units led by warlords Shamil Basaev and Khattab and servicemen of the Pskov Airborne Division near the village of Ulus-Kert in Chechnya in 2000”.

On Friday, the leaders of all four factions represented in the RF Gosduma, the lower chamber of the RF Federal Assembly, declared their support for the VS ARK decision to hold an all-Crimea popular referendum on 16 March on the ARK’s future status. At a meeting with VS ARK Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov and his delegation presided over by RF Gosduma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin, KPRF First Secretary Gennady Zyuganov said, “The will of the people is sacred for me, as a human being and as a political figure. We’ll support it as strongly as possible”. Gosduma Deputy Chairman and United Russia faction leader Vladimir Vasilyev said that the Gosduma resolutely supports the Crimean population in this difficult time, after the Euromaidan putsch in Kiev. Gosduma Deputy Chairman and United Russia Deputy Sergei Zheleznyak said, “Most Russian citizens rejoiced and were proud to learn of the decisions adopted by the VS ARK”.

LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who also attended the meeting with the Crimean delegation, said that the news of the VS ARK decision pleased millions of Russian citizens, saying, “It was the most joyous piece of news since 1945”. Zhirinovsky called on Crimean citizens not to be afraid of anything because Russia would certainly support the results of this referendum, noting, “I’d like to assure you that everything will happen just the way the people of Crimea want it to happen. You should stand firm. You shouldn’t have any doubts. People will carry you on their shoulders. Your names will create a new chapter in the history of the Crimea”. A Just Russia faction First Deputy Chairman Mikhail Yemelynov also assured the Crimean delegation that Gosduma Deputies would support any decision democratically made at the all-Crimea referendum, saying, “Russia is able to extend financial support to Crimea, and we’ll prepare amendments to the budget in the near future”. Gosduma SNG Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky said, “A few days after the [all-Crimea] referendum, the Gosduma will ratify the decision made by the people of the Crimea in that referendum”. Naryshkin told the VS ARK delegation at the end of the meeting, “[Gosduma] Deputies support you in the most resolute way”.

On Friday, VOR correspondent Lada Korotun reported that the RF Federation Council would back the VS ARK’s decision to join Russia after an all-Crimea referendum scheduled for mid-March. Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko told VS ARK Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov, “The Federation Council will support the VS ARK decision about the referendum, and this decision will be legitimate”. She emphasised that the decision to hold the referendum is consistent with contemporary international practise, going on to say, “It’d suffice to remember the referendum in Scotland. Besides, the VS ARK chose the most democratic form… a referendum is the final expression of the people’s will”. She called the VS ARK decision historic. The Crimean delegation repeatedly elicited applause during the meeting.

Matviyenko said that it was a symbol that they recognised the courage of her Crimean colleagues, saying, “We admire your fortitude and courage. Many made threats against you; there were threats of attacks, in particular, against the Black Sea Fleet base, but you endured that and protected your people. This applause is for you”. She said that she was confident that there’d never be war between Russia and the Ukraine, noting, “Claims that the people of the Ukraine will wage a war against Russia are absolutely absurd. There’ll never be war between our fraternal peoples”. She repeated that the Kiev junta is unlawful, noting, “They plunged the Ukraine into the chaos of the Orange Revolution. Russia unwaveringly supported a return to constitutional order, to restore the rule of law in the Ukraine”. Matviyenko added that Russian lawmakers are ready to send an observation mission to the all-Crimea referendum so that the voting process and its results “make no one doubt their legality”.

The Unity of the Russian People

Mikhail Khmelko

Presidential Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov urged people not to look for “the hand of Moscow” in protest actions in the eastern Ukraine and in the Crimea. In an interview on Sunday Night with Vladimir Solovyov, shown on Rossiya-24, he said, “What’s happening in the [eastern Ukraine] and the Crimea has nothing to do with the Russian Federation. These aren’t manipulated events, let alone the consequences of actions by Russia. On the contrary, parties called for Russian help, and, as Putin rightly said, Russia can’t ignore this situation. However, these events in the Ukraine have purely domestic sources”.

On Friday, in comments to reporters on events in the Ukraine, PRC Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said that China opposes threats of sanctions in international relations. Speaking of the VS ARK vote to join the Russian Federation as a federal subject, Qin said, “In the current situation, we hope that the parties would manage to avoid further deterioration and join efforts to search for a political solution. This is the only way out. We urge all parties in the Ukraine to settle issues by peaceful means, to protect the interests of all people in the Ukraine within the framework of law and order through dialogue and consultations”. Qin expressed a hope for a quick restoration of peace and order in the Ukraine.

VS ARK Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov said that he pledged to do everything possible for the Ukraine to reunite with Russia. He said at a meeting with RF Gosduma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin and leaders of the Gosduma’s factions, “I hope that you’d be able to bring up a new leader in the Ukraine. We talked about it several times. We said that we need a new Bogdan Khmelnitsky (leader of a popular rebellion against Polish rule in the Ukraine that ultimately led to the Ukrainian lands east of the Dnepr rejoining Russia) to emerge and unite these two great states, which can’t exist separately. Yesterday, I received many calls from the eastern regions of Ukraine and from Odessa. People congratulated me. They all said it was great. Sadly, we have big problems, but the Ukraine is part of a united Russian world. After we solve the Crimea’s problem (I’m sure that we’ll solve it), we must exert the maximum effort to protect not only ethnic Russians. In general, we should protect all Ukrainian citizens… both ethnic Russians and Ukrainians… from Nazism and from the Western pressure to impose a foreign ideology. I believe that the present Ukrainian junta will collapse. The junta will face serious tension within the year. Today, instead of trying to unite the Ukraine, it refuses to hear the interests of the southern and eastern Ukraine”.

In an interview on Sunday Night with Vladimir Solovyov on Rossiya-24, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov called the actions of Western countries towards the Ukraine “a triumph of double standards”. He said, “Overall, what we see now happening in and around the Ukraine is a triumph of lawlessness, a triumph of cynicism, and a triumph of the collapse of international law; it’s a triumph of double standards. Our Western partners recognised the legitimacy of those who now refer to themselves as the leaders of the Ukraine, despite the fact that these people came to power with the support of those who led a coup. They rushed to recognise them as legitimate, they insist on their legitimacy, whilst completely denying the right of anyone else in the Ukraine to take action at their discretion. The west and the east are all people of a united Ukraine, but the leadership denied parts of this people the right to self-determination, the right to a legitimate choice, the right to action to defend their dignity and personal safety. Regretfully, the West ignores this. To our great regret, despite all the attempts by our president, and his readiness to explain the Russian position effectively on a daily basis, we still face a wall of misunderstanding. This is quite sad, and more importantly, it’s very bad from the viewpoint of further possible consequences”.

On Friday, VS ARK Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov told reporters that the upcoming all-Crimea referendum would restore historical justice and reunite the peninsula with Russia, noting, “We were given away as a gift in 1954 for unclear reasons, like a sack of potatoes, in disregard of the rights of Crimean residents”. He said that people accepted it 50 years ago because it wasn’t a transfer to another country. Konstantinov emphasised, “It came to no good, the gift turned into something given”. In his opinion, the label “separatist” is unfairly stuck to the ARK, saying, “They labelled us as ‘separatists’, no matter what we said, even though we did everything to preserve the country and warned that [the Kiev events] would end badly”. Konstantinov said, that Crimean citizens can restore historical justice and decide “where to live and with whom” at the referendum. Jokingly, Konstantinov said that they had only one condition… “Please… don’t give us away as a gift again”.

Ukrainian Situation in Stasis for Now… It’s 08.00 in Moscow… It’s 06.00 in Kiev… Another Crazy Day Dawns

00 Kiev riots 01. 22.02.14

Editor’s Note:

In order to get the news out with the greatest dispatch, I had to choose which Russian source did it best in the fewest words. That’s so I could “get there fustest with the mostest”, as the old misattribution to Nathan Bedford Forrest had it (yes, I know who he was… but the quote was spot on, so, I used it). VOR made the cut… they had the best combination of brevity with accuracy combined with a proper anti-Western interventionist POV. Things are souring quickly… the Svoboda pigs are on the rampage, killing and terrorising innocents… and the West cackles in glee. Excuse me if I don’t believe a word from Western sources. Their smarmy and self-righteous twaddle makes me want to hurl.

On Saturday, Chairman of the Government Dmitri Medvedev had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian “Prime Minister” Arseny Yatsenyuk, noting Russia’s interest to preserve stable and friendly relations with the Ukraine. The Russian government press service stated, “Meanwhile, [Medvedev] noted that Russia retains the right to protect legitimate interests of Russian citizens and servicemen stationed in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea”. Medvedev observed that the Russian armed forces “have the power to act according to a mandate given to the Russian President by the RF Federation Council, if necessary”. The press service went on to say, “During the conversation, Medvedev also noted that Ukrainian officials are responsible if they take any unlawful decisionsto use force against Russian citizens”.

On Sunday, the Kremlin press service reported that President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stating that if any party takes violent actions against Russian-speakers in the Eastern Ukraine and the Crimea, Russia couldn’t stand aside and it’d take all necessary measures under international law. Both sides noted that all parties should try to avert further escalation of the crisis in the Ukraine.

VOR ran most of the below material from The Guardian. It’s proof for all concerned that the West is intent on forcing its puppet junta down the throats of all decent Ukrainians (do note that the junta’s MVDU head was in gaol in Italy, which is probably where Langley recruited him).

US President Obama warned Russia of political and economic isolation in a telephone conversation with the President Vladimir Putin that lasted almost 90 minutes. Obama said that the USA would urgently consult with allies and UN Security Council members, NATO, and the OSCE on the Ukrainian situation in Ukraine, warning Russia of political and economic isolation. In addition, Obama said that the USA would suspend upcoming participation in preparatory meetings for the G8 summit. President Obama expressed his deep concern over Russia’s clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is a breach of international law, including Russia’s obligations under the UN Charter, and of its 1997 military basing agreement with the Ukraine, and which is inconsistent with the 1994 Budapest Memorandum and the Helsinki Final Act. The USA condemns Russia’s military intervention into Ukrainian territory {in like manner, Russian can condemn America’s intervention in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya (and American support for terrorists in Syria and the Caucasus)… the USA stepped full force into a cowpat on that one: editor}.

The USA urged Russia to de-escalate tensions by withdrawing its forces back to bases in Crimea and to refrain from any interference elsewhere in the Ukraine {to make things safe for Svoboda terrorists, who have loud supporters in the Galician diaspora: editor}. Obama said, “We’ve consistently said that we recognise Russia’s deep historic and cultural ties to Ukraine and the need to protect the rights of ethnic Russian and minority populations within the Ukraine. The Ukrainian government made clear its commitment to protect the rights of all Ukrainians and to abide by Ukraine’s international commitments {by allowing Galician terrorists to run amuck: editor}, and we’ll continue to urge them to do so”.

Obama told President Putin that, if Russia has concerns about the treatment of ethnic Russian and minority populations in Ukraine, the proper way to discuss them is peacefully through direct engagement with the Ukrainian government of and through the dispatch of international observers under the auspices of the United Nations Security Council or the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) {that means that Obama admits that American actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria are illegitimate, and that the USA must stop all support for the junta, if it wants to be consistent: editor}. Obama urged an immediate effort to start a dialogue between the Russian and Ukrainian governments, with international facilitation, as proper. The USA is prepared to take part {so that its terrorist protégés don’t get hurt: editor}. Obama claimed that the people of the Ukraine have the right to decide their own future. Obama directed his Administration to continue working urgently with international partners to offer support for the Ukrainian government, including urgent technical and financial help {they’re trying desperately to spin the fact that Svoboda terrorists are killing and torturing the opponents of the junta: editor}.

If “the people of the Ukraine have the right to decide their own future”, then, the USA has to disown the illegitimate Timoshenko junta, as it came to power in a coup engineered by the American/EU special services in defiance of the legitimately elected government. The Ukrainian people preferred Yanukovich to Timoshenko, who was FAR more corrupt than Yanukovich was (or is). Note well that the West supports the most feral, violent, racist, and corrupt politicians in the Ukraine. Barack Obama and the American Establishment don’t give a good goddamn for the Ukrainian people. I’d advise VVP to hang tough… the US forces are war-weary and knackered after a fruitless decade of wars of aggression in South Asia (which left the American national interest in the region in far worse shape that it was when the wars started). America can’t stop justice in the Ukraine. It’s reached its “Bridge Too Far”.

On his Instagram account, Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov commented on Dmitri Yarosh’s appeal to Doku Umarov, an extremist Caucasian leader. Kadyrov pointed up that he wouldn’t overlook Yarosh’s words about his “fighting in the Chechen war”. Kadyrov said that this is good evidence of who the EU and the USA considers a legitimate political. Yarosh openly called for terrorism, yet, countries that are allegedly against terrorism support him. Kadyrov noted that the USA labelled Umarov as one of today’s leading terrorists, but Yarosh is a good guy according to the Americans. Kadyrov said that he personally talked with Crimean Tatars leaders; they told him that they don’t intend to fight Russia. However, fanatic Ukrainian nationalists tried to set them against Russia. Kadyrov said that Yarosh would follow Umarov to a place from where no one has returned yet.

On Saturday, Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairman of the Federation Council, told reporters that the situation in the Ukraine threatens the security of nuclear sites. She warned, “A large number of highly hazardous facilities, nuclear power plants, and other facilities are [in the Ukraine]. If such chaos continues, this will affect them. We should understood that we must ensure the security of highly hazardous facilities to avert a larger tragedy”.

Today, Catherine Ashton personally said that she intends to discuss the situation in the Ukraine with Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov next week. She said, “An urgent session of the EU Council for Foreign Affairs is due on Monday to discuss the EU’s response to the developments in the Ukraine. I’m also supposed to meet with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. I’m going to Kiev on Wednesday to solve these problems with all interested parties”. She postponed her trip to Kiev originally scheduled for 3 March due to an urgent meeting on the Ukraine with foreign ministers of 28 EU member-states.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that the North Atlantic Council and the NATO-Ukraine Commission would have urgent meetings on the situation in the republic here on Sunday. The representatives of the 28 NATO countries would take part. Rasmussen said that the representatives want to confer about the serious Ukrainian situation in Ukraine and coördinate their actions closely. The members of the council will consult with the Ukrainian representative to NATO within the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Commission.

Ali Totorkulov, chairman of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus, said that Dmitri Yarosh’s appeal to terrorist Doku Umarov to step up struggle against Russia shows the essence of the new Ukrainian junta. Totorkulov emphasised that the very fact of Yarosh’s appeal to Umarov, whose arms are elbow-deep in blood, proves, amongst other things, that those who ordered the escalation of chaos in the Ukraine and those who committed terrorist acts in the North Caucasus and many Russian cities are brothers under the skin. He said, “We’re gravely concerned about the developments in the neighbouring Ukraine, where extremist nationalists threaten to bring chaos and violence to the southern and western regions of our republic. They’re even urging separatist elements in Russia. Under the circumstances, inactivity on our part would be a crime. Today is a day when the future of both the Ukraine and Russia is in the balance. We support the idea of deploying Russian troops in the Crimea, to put an end to the chaos in that region. We also believe that Russia should give help to Ukrainian regions whose people reject nationalism, and who ask for our aid and protection”.

Sergei Bozhenov, Governor of Volgograd Oblast, believed that Dmitri Yarosh’s appeal to international terrorist Doku Umarov to join efforts makes Yarosh and Umarov equally terrorists, saying, “Not only Russia, but also the USA, considers Umarov to be an international criminal. Yarosh’s willingness to become Umarov’s ally puts him outside the law and requires using respective sanctions against him and those who share his views”. Bozhenov said that Umarov and his bandits brought a lot of grief to Volgograd Oblast. Umarov’s gunmen organised and carried out terakts in Volgograd Oblast. On 21 October, a female suicide bomber set off an explosion in a bus. On 29 December, terrorists set off a bomb at the city railway station, and on 30 December, a terrorist blew up a city trolley-bus. These terakts took the lives of 40 people, including women and children, injuring more than 100 innocent civilians.

A march of patriotic youth organisations in support of fellow our compatriots in the Ukraine will take place in Moscow today. The message of the organising committee said, “We need to consolidate our support for our fellow Russians. We’re distressed by the events in the Ukraine, where millions of our compatriots live. We’re fraternal peoples with common cultural and spiritual roots”. The organisers report that the march would be in Pushkin Square at 17.00 MSK (13.00 UTC. 08.00 EST. 05.00 PST. 00.00 Monday 3 March AEST). Activists of patriotic youth organisations, student construction brigades, academic associations, and the all-Russian public organisation Combat Fraternity will take part. At 14.00 MSK (10.00 UTC. 05.00 EST. 02.00 PST. 21.00 AEST) a motocross of Night Wolves MC members will start. The organisers report that applications to hold the events went to the Moscow Gorsoviet yesterday.
