Ted Cruz attacked federal aid for Hurricane Sandy victims… Ted Cruz blubbers for aid for Texas flood victims. I’d observe that since Texas claims to despise “federal intervention” in their affairs, well, it’d be simple justice to deny them aid. Of course, one doesn’t do such miserable evil rot… but do note that Texans (as a group) ARE capable of such beastly behaviour. It tells you much about their character as a polity, doesn’t it? Yes… good people can live under crank régimes… that’s true. However, such people do NOT negate the evil of those crank polities. It’s a meaty thought…

Texas has had a crank ideology and underpinning ever since the Slaver Revolt of 1836. If you saw Texas Rising on the History Channel, you saw something that deserved the Pulitzer Prize for Best Fiction of the Year. If the Anglos didn’t like Mexico and its laws… well, shouldn’t they have left and gone back to the USA? Isn’t that what the ignoranus rightwing trash keep saying today? “If you don’t like it here, why don’t you go back to where you came from?” Indeed… why didn’t they follow their own advice and go back to the USA from whence they came to Mexico? It tells you much about American “conservatives”, doesn’t it? “Scoundrels and pissants!” Cordell Hull was right…

The people in Serbia still need your help to recover from the serious flooding. St  Sava Cathedral in New York is raising funds, and all those interested in participating can do so using checks, credit cards, and PayPal by clicking the “donate” button on the church’s website (click here to do so). Those using credit cards and PayPal should type in “Flood Aid” in the “special instructions” section of their accounts. This money goes directly to the SPC with no middleman taking any cuts.

Over the weekend, St Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in New York NY collected 50,000 USD (1.725 million Roubles. 54,000 AUD. 54,400 CAD. 36,500 Euros. 29,700 UK Pounds) for flood victims in Serbia and Bosnia. The cathedral immediately sent the funds to the SPC, which will distribute them to those areas across Serbia and Bosnia most in need of such assistance. The campaign continues, and all those interested in participating can do so using checks, credit cards, and PayPal by clicking the “donate” button on the church’s website (click here to do so). Those using credit cards and PayPal should type in “Flood Aid” in the “special instructions” section of their accounts.

If you were thinking of helping, it’d be better to do it via St Sava Cathedral, as the funds go directly to the SPC. Russian Orthodox people would do best by sending money directly to SPC sources, as that wouldn’t enrich a middleman. Serbs and Russians are fraternal Orthodox Slavic nations. Send ’em a fin or two… or three or four… they need a hand!

Hungry Bears Approach Villages in Flood-Hit Russian Far East

On Wednesday, local police said that aggressive bears, starving because their natural food sources were destroyed by floods, are becoming a growing threat for villagers in the Russian Far East. According to Yevgeny Shukshin, police chief of Polina Osipenko Raion  in Khabarovsk Krai, bears currently have difficulty finding their usual food… berries and salmon… because of floods. He said, “Chances of meeting a predator have increased. Hunger drives the animals closer to humans; it forces them to search for food in garbage dumps. More and more often, we’re informed of bears approaching villages”. In one such incident, police dealt with an aggressive bear, which dangerously approached a group of children picking mushrooms. At once, the cops tried to scare the animal off, but it ran towards them, so, they killed it. Due to the flooding, which has occurred over several weeks, an emergency was declared in four Far Eastern areas… Amur Oblast, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast (Birobidzhan), Khabarovsk Krai, and Primorsky Krai… as well as in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). On Tuesday, Vladimir Pysin, Deputy Presidential Envoy to the Russian Far East, said that the overall damage is currently estimated at 30 billion roubles (900 million USD. 937 million CAD. 980 million AUD. 684 million Euros. 576 million UK Pounds). In three of the affected regions… Amur Oblast, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and Khabarovsk Krai… the floods affected 190 settlements with almost 9,500 buildings.
