Desperation in Kiev

Driven by Kiev’s desperation… as the Ukrainian economy tanks, the IMF again refused billions of dollars of assistance previously promised… Europe increasingly withdraws its support, sceptical of Kiev’s denial of sending raiders to the Crimean peninsula… they’ve excluded Ukrainian President Poroshenko from September’s G20 meeting… the government is frantically trying to regain unconditional Western support. Even US Vice President Biden, the overseer of Washington’s “Ukrainian project”, appears to have worries about Kiev’s recklessness. Kiev won’t or can’t negotiate an end to the Ukrainian civil/proxy war. It seems determined to provoke a larger war with Russia to regain Western support, but its repeated claims that Putin is preparing a “new invasion” lack logic and no longer seem credible to Kiev’s former unconditional Western supporters. Stephen Cohen asked, “Can this tail again wag the dog, with dire consequences?”

Pushkov sez that the USA Lost its Unilateral Dictation over Global Decision-making

RF Gosduma Deputy Aleksei Pushkov, the chairman of the Gosduma Committee on International Affairs, believed that the USA couldn’t issue unilateral diktats on global political affairs anymore. According to Interfax, he posted on Twitter, “The USA lost its monopoly on global solutions. At the G20, BRICS countries supported Russia on Syria, and, now, the SCO summit. It’s a lesson for Barack Obama“. On 5 September, BRICS leaders stated that foreign intervention in Syrian affairs is negatively affecting the global economy. On the eve of the SCO summit, the SCO members issued the Bishkek Declaration, which supported the initiative “transferring Syrian chemical weapons to international control, their subsequent destruction, and the accession of Syria to the UN Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling, and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction“.
