______________________________

Every year, the holiday season rolls around, and, every year, all the long-faced and tight-arsed naysayers come out to bedevil ordinary folks. This is the New Year‘s Tree at the entrance to Gorky Park in Moscow. It’s NOT a Christmas tree… it never has been, probably, never will be. Why? The Gorky Park tree is for EVERYBODY… NOT just Christians! As the Buranovskie Babushki sang, Party for Everyody! I’m pretty kosher (in a non-Jewish sense) with “Happy Holidays“… that’s what you wish your non-Christian friends (and do so sincerely, kids, from the bottom of your hearts). “Merry Christmas” is fine, too, as most non-Christians are hip to the time of year, and most of ’em have year-end holidays, too. However, we should NEVER emulate the nasty Born Agains, with their one-way “respect”. That is, every else has to kowtow to them and suck up to their oddbod notions (don’t forget to tell them how great, moral, and wise they are whilst you’re at it), whilst they get to dump on us and everybody else (we don’t count, dontcha know, we’re not “saved”). Kiss my ass… I’m going to show respect to my fellows and what they believe in, and if that upsets the terminally “religious”, so be it.

It’s a happy time of year for all of us… PARTY FOR EVERYBODY!

St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Moscow’s legendary Gorky Park were a big hit, regardless of the weather. Although it was sunny, the streets were icy, slushy, and full of puddles, but that proved no obstacle for the Irish dancers or stilt walkers. Join RIA-Novosti for this three-minute vid and see how the Irish made their day full of warmth for all comers.

01f Maslenitsa 2011. Rostov

Editor’s Note:

The old pre-revolutionary Maslenitsa is back… by popular demand! That tells you that the revival of Orthodoxy is on track better than the perusal of church attendance figures does. I’ll tell ya a secret… the contemporary commies are 100 percent behind it all… they’re believers (as are Zyuganov and Simonenko, their leaders), after all (the rightwing pro-American Free Marketers are godless… reflect on that one, kids). We should keep this tradition… and revive it where it’s fallen into disuse (often, due to modernist clergy). In any case, it’s FUN… and God does want you to enjoy the good life that He gave you. One of the questions He’s going to ask you is, “Why didn’t you enjoy the legit pleasures that I made for you?” Now, that’s something to mull over…

On 16 November, Europe‘s largest artificial ice rink opened at Gorky Park. In the new season, the rink is now larger by some 3,000 square metres (32,300 square feet. 0.3 hectare. 0.75 acre)… the ice fills the square near the fountain. For those who don’t like fighting the crowds at the park, RIA-Novosti gives you advice on how to make your own private “roll your own” ice rink.
