Snowden Believes that Russian Hackers Could be Behind Cyberattack on NSA Website

00 edward snowden 170816

A statement on his official Twitter page stated that former US intelligence agent Edward Snowden said that Russian hackers could be behind the cyberattack on the US National Security Agency (NSA) website. Earlier reports said that the NSA website was down for almost a day after a hacker attack, but it was back up and running by Tuesday evening. Media sources noted that the DDOS attack occurred “a few hours after the mysterious Shadow Brokers Group announced the theft of cyberweapons from Equation Group… an extensive group of hackers, presumably related to the NSA”. Stolen Shadow Brokers data already is appearing on the internet. Snowden tweeted:

Why did they do it? No one knows, but I suspect this is more diplomacy than intelligence, related to the escalation around the DNC hack. Circumstantial evidence and conventional wisdom indicates Russian responsibility.

Snowden thinks that the hackers went to an unusual step to demonstrate that they have at their disposal tools and programs used by NSA employees to break into computers. This may be a signal that they’re ready to prove American responsibility for a series of cyberattacks. The consequences of such applications will be particularly noticeable if they can show American involvement in cyberactions against their own allies and cyberactions connected with the current election. Snowden believes that the hackers acted for diplomatic purposes and not for intelligence, and that the attack could have links to the scandal over the leak of US Democratic Party emails.

The meaning of this is clear. “We know what you’re doing, how you’re doing it, and why you’re doing it”. In short, if Washington doesn’t fly right, Moscow will expose how the Yanks are messing with their own allies and how certain elements in the USA are messing with the election. Common wisdom has it that there’s a cyberwar going on now… the Russian geeks are winning it. For the Yanks, it’s just a game… for the Russians, it’s sheer survival… such tends to concentrate the mind wonderfully and buck up one’s motivation and resolve.

By the way, as a condition of his staying in Russia, Snowden has to promise to do nothing to harm the USA… the Corporate Media didn’t tell you that, did they? My sources tell me that he’s hanging out with Russian geeks and doing all sorts of neat cyberstuff. In short, he’s in Geek Heaven…

Guccifer 2.0 Hacker Leaks New US Democrat Election Campaign Documents

00 computer keyboard 160816

Guccifer 2.0, the hacker behind multiple US Democratic Party leaks, revealed a new batch of documents from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The new leak includes documents on congressional races in several districts in Florida. The documents, titled “Path to Victory Summary” and “Campaign Overview”, contain various strategies for winning specific races. Strategies include particular targets for gaining support within various population groups, such as women, racial minorities, and people of various ages, as well as points such as “leverage early vote to increase turnout in favourable demographic groups and geographic areas”. The hacker wrote on his website in a post containing a number of DCCC electoral campaign documents:

Here are DCCC docs on Florida… reports, memos, briefings, dossiers, etc. You can have a look at who you’re going to elect now. It may seem the congressional primaries are also becoming a farce.

The leak comes ahead of elections for the US House of Representatives, due alongside the US presidential election on 8 November. The hacker’s previous leaks from the 2016 Democratic National Convention included personal dossiers and data on most congressional Democrats, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and party donors. Guccifer 2.0 follows in the footsteps of Romanian hacker Marcel Lehel Lazar, who was the original Guccifer, in leaking Democratic Party documents. US intelligence agencies accused Guccifer 2.0 of having links to Russian intelligence. Both Russia and the hacker deny these allegations.

The Problem with Blaming Putin for DNC Hack that Exposed Bernie was Cheated

00 dnc leaks 010816

A popular internet meme asks how the Democrats can accuse alleged Russian hackers of subverting American democracy when the DNC leaks expose that the primary elections were a fraud. The most recent Gallup poll, conducted from 18-25 July, found that 58 percent of voters had an unfavourable opinion of both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, with only 37 percent of voters saying they support either candidate… historically negative figures worse than ever reported for any candidate for the US presidency and a glaring red flag for American democracy.

It begs the question of how in a democratic society can a candidate opposed by more than 50 percent of the public can oppose the candidate… either one… who will ultimately take office as a representative of the people. This inexplicable reality faced by American voters, millions of whom according to a separate poll by Public Policy Polling (PPP) would choose a giant meteor crashing into earth and not selecting either of the candidates, in fact has an explanation as was learned by the DNC leaks. Donald Trump called it on 4 May 2016 when he posted on Twitter:

I’d rather run against Crooked Hillary Clinton than Bernie Sanders and that’ll happen because the books are cooked against Bernie!

The candidate whose selling point is actually that he knows the rigged system better than anybody else because he used to be a part of it, turned out not so surprisingly to be correct. On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks brought the proof to the party exposing a vague web of connections between top Democratic operatives, leading mainstream media “journalists”, and Hillary Clinton’s campaign who together conspired to push anti-Bernie narratives on the public and to launder money towards the former Secretary of State’s campaign whose millionaire and billionaire donors struggled to keep pace with Bernie’s small-dollar fundraising machine.

One email between operatives even stooped so low as to have a Democratic operative go out into the field to ask what Bernie Sanders “believes”… whether he was Jewish or an atheist… in order to mar the candidate in the eyes of the political staffers’ “Southern Baptist peeps”. Other emails included pushing the narrative that Bernie supporters turned violent in the wake of the Nevada Democratic Convention, itself subject to claims of impropriety by Democratic Party officials, even though Sanders supporters didn’t engage in physical conflict or “throw chairs” as was first reported by top Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston. The DNC asked that this narrative be pushed “without attribution”… that the fiction not be traced back to Party officials. The emails also expose a steady pattern of reporters routing through the DNC before their own editors, Democratic Party officials being able to pre-select the questions asked of Clinton or her surrogates, and fundamentally altering the manner in which the mainstream media covered the race.

The fix was in. They stole an American election. The people must choose between two major candidates who hardly rate higher than arsenic poisoning in the public’s opinion. That’s why the narrative that Putin somehow attempted to rig the American election is so cartoonish… it was already rigged. Arvin Vohra in an interview with RT said:

I think pointing the finger at the Russians is just a way to distract people from the central issue, which is that the DNC was using a rigged game to prevent the popular guy from actually getting the election.

He’s right. Unfortunately, the mainstream media adopted that strategy whole hog from the first time that the words were uttered from the lips of Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager Robby Mook, who concocted a conspiracy theory out of whole cloth that’s now the election’s lead narrative. When asked about allegations that Russia was behind the DNC email leaks, Minister of Foreign Affairs S V Lavrov blasted the reporter, saying, “I don’t want to use four-letter words”. Many Americans probably feel the same way, but those folks will never have a chance to vote for their candidate… at least, now, they know why.

Hackers Attacked the LITs Website

01 journalist at computer

Dear readers!

Hackers subjected the Lugansk Information Centre to DoS attacks starting on the evening of Saturday, 17 October. In particular, this led to bogus material release. Yesterday, 18 October, the hackers shut down the website all day. As of now, we’ve resolved most of the problems related to cyberattacks; however, short-term glitches are still possible on our site.
