Happy Indifference Day

_________________________

Just in time for the US Independence Day on 4 July, Gallup’s Monday release suggests Americans may be putting their pride to the side during the national holiday. In the research company’s recent 18-year history of surveying Americans on their pride, 2018 resulted in the lowest numbers for the “extreme” category, which is a dramatic drop from the peak of 70 percent in 2003. The numbers also reveal that the idea of American pride is dropping at the fastest rate within the Democratic and liberal communities. Does this mean fewer sparklers at the annual BBQ or something much worse for the future of the USA?

4 July 2012. A Parting Thought for the Fourth of July…

______________________________

The Fourth of July‘s coming to a close… what would I like to see in the coming years? We DO have a choice… do we choose sinful greed or do we choose godly cooperation? If we choose the former by voting for Romney, then, I fear that Senator Sanders will be correct. A new Dark Age, stamping out all vestiges of Social Justice, would swallow us up. We can avert that… vote on 6 November for President Obama… your life DOES depend on it.

4 July 2012. Our Fourth of July Pledge…

Let’s not forget the REAL heritage of Russian Orthodox Christians in this country. We were Wobblies and we were leaders in the sit-down strikes and we stood in the forefront of the labour movement. Let’s recapture that heritage and legacy today…

4 July 2012. It’s the Fourth of July… What is to be Done?

______________________________

The Fourth of July is a work in progress… there are still many wrongs to be righted; there are still too many tears in our country. I’ve seen the rich; I’ve seen the poor. We still have a long way to go on the road to social justice, I fear. As Frederick Douglass said:

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organised conspiracy to oppress, rob, and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.

We have a long march yet ahead of us…
