Venezuela Expels Three American Diplomats in “Sabotage Conspiracy”

00 President Nicolás Maduro Moros. Venezuela. 01.10.13

______________________________

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros announced on national television that he’s ordered the expulsion of three American diplomats for allegedly plotting acts of sabotage in conspiracy with “far-right” opposition groups. Speaking in a public address Monday, Maduro gave Chargé d’Affaires Kelly Keiderling, the top American diplomat in Caracas, and two other embassy officials, 48 hours to leave Venezuela, whose economy has been troubled by power outages and food shortages. Maduro said that he had evidence that the American diplomats frequently met with the “Venezuelan far-right” to finance it and “encourage actions to sabotage the country’s electrical grid and economy. I can’t allow them to interfere in Venezuela’s internal affairs and I ask for your full support in this struggle against the interference. Yankees go home, get out of Venezuela!”

Venezuela and the USA have been without mutual ambassadors since 2010, and Caracas toughened its anti-American rhetoric following the death of Venezuela’s outspoken leader Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías in March. Maduro, chosen by Chávez as his successor, expelled two American military attachés for alleged attempts to destabilise the country just a few hours prior to the official announcement of Chávez’s death from cancer on 5 March. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan opposition claims that the leftist government uses “foreign interference” as a smokescreen to hide their own inability to handle the country’s ailing economy, wide-spread corruption, and rampant crime.

Editor’s Note:

Given the dirty nature of Langley’s involvement in the region, one can’t blame Maduro for doing what he did. Oh, yes… Capriles, America’s fair-haired boy in Venezuela… his father was a lickspittle Quisling, an executive for an American multinational, Kraft (Capriles’ family owns apartments on the posh Affluent Effluent Upper East Side in New York and he took courses at Columbia). That is, his wealth came from kissing the Americans’ arse (pecunia non olet in its most disgusting form). Fancy that…

00 RIA-Novosti Infographics. Attitude of Russians Towards Countries in the Near and Far Abroad. 2013

******

The word used for “Russian” in the original was “россиян”, not “русский”, which means that it’s asking Russian citizens as a whole, not ethnic Russians as a particular tribe. This should help to make you understand that Russia’s a self-consciously multiethnic, multicultural, and multiconfessional state, unlike the distorted caricatures bruited about by CNN and Fox News (along with the rest of their amen corner in the Western media). By the way, ethnic Russians make up 80 percent of the RF‘s population, Tatars are 4 percent, Ukrainians are 2 percent, Bashkirs, Chuvash, and Chechens each comprise about 1 percent, and all other groups are less than that. One can see that Western estimates of the Muslim population is way out of whack, more motivated by wishful thinking than observation of reality. By the way, the Russian population hit its nadir in 2009, it’s been on the rise since then, as the birth rate’s gone up and the death rate has gone down, as a result of policies put in place by VVP. Again, the Western punditry has to eat crow supreme à la mode.

Why do you listen to them?

30 July is International Friendship Day. Our infographic will show you which countries that Russians favour the most, and those, on the contrary, which one could hardly call friends and political partners of Russia. The UN General Assembly decided to establish International Friendship Day on 27 April 2011 at its 65th session. The basis for the new holiday was the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace which was part of the International Decade for the Promotion of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World, which covered the decade 2001-10. The UN resolution highlighted the importance of the new observance in strengthening friendly relations between peoples. In addition, one of the main goals of the international festival was to attract young people to social activities designed to respect the perception of different cultures.

Syrian Oppos Seek Ban on Assad Using Air Strikes Against “Populated Areas”

00 Toddler Tantrum. 29.11.12

______________________________

On Sunday, al Arabiya reported that the Syrian opposition demanded that the international community impose a ban on the use of airpower in urban areas by Syrian government forces, in addition to a chemical weapons ban. Quoting the opposition statement, the report stated, “The Syrian National Coalition insists that the prohibition of chemical weapons, the use of which left more than 1,400 civilians dead, be extended to the use of ballistic missiles and aircraft against urban areas”.

On Saturday, after weeks of intense diplomacy and almost three days of talks in Genève between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his American counterpart John Kerry, the USA and Russia reached a landmark deal  that’d see all chemical weapons in war-torn Syria brought under international control and destroyed by mid-2014. Russia and the USA also reached a consensus on the quantity and types of chemical weapons in Syria. A White House official told AFP that Syria’s chemical weapons… including mustard gas, Sarin, and precursors… are stored at 45 facilities and amount to 1,000 tons. Saturday evening, internationally, both governments and NGOs welcomed the deal. The Syrian opposition criticised the agreement as a “blow” to the uprising to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power. On Saturday, Foreign Minister Lavrov said that the USA would continue its diplomatic efforts to bring Syrian opposition forces to a planned international peace conference in Genève.

Editor’s Note:

This is cheekishness of the highest order. The Syrian oppos failed to trigger intervention with their chemical weapons provocation, so, now, they’re trying to label the use of airpower against “urban areas” (oh, how vague) as criminal. If such is so, the USA and the UK would be guilty of war crimes for using air power against “urban areas” in Bosnia, Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Pakistan… and that’s only since 1991! Bomber Harris and Curtis LeMay are turning in their graves. Obama may try to run with this, but not too seriously… he doesn’t want to hurt his political cred for the battle over the ACA, which matters MUCH more to him than the fate of the ragtag Syrian oppos. All indicators seem to point to Assad keeping power… that’s what a leaked BND document predicted… and Germans aren’t known for being slouches and unobservant.

It looks like it was all Inside the Beltway Kabuki of the finest vintage, meant to occupy the dead space in the news cycle until Congress got back to town. Any road, that’s how Obama’s going to spin it in backroom Capitol Hill circles. After all, the real winner in all of this was Vova… he’s STILL “The Terminator” (“I’ll be back”… and he was, kids, wasn’t he?).

One last thing… all of the late kafuffle proved that John Boehner and John McCain were willing to vote for massive funds for war… whilst screaming that the budget needs trimming. Methinks that shows them hypocrites as well as warmongers. However, watch all the “Pro-Lifers” drool over them… shitbirds of a feather do flock together, so, what does that tell you? Ponder that…

Pushkov sez that the USA Lost its Unilateral Dictation over Global Decision-making

00 Uncle Sam ravaged by GOP... political cartoon. 07.12

______________________________

RF Gosduma Deputy Aleksei Pushkov, the chairman of the Gosduma Committee on International Affairs, believed that the USA couldn’t issue unilateral diktats on global political affairs anymore. According to Interfax, he posted on Twitter, “The USA lost its monopoly on global solutions. At the G20BRICS countries supported Russia on Syria, and, now, the SCO summit. It’s a lesson for Barack Obama“. On 5 September, BRICS leaders stated that foreign intervention in Syrian affairs is negatively affecting the global economy. On the eve of the SCO summit, the SCO members issued the Bishkek Declaration, which supported the initiative “transferring Syrian chemical weapons to international control, their subsequent destruction, and the accession of Syria to the UN Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling, and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction“.

Don’t attend to the hogwash emanating from CNN and Fox… after all, they’re attending to “Their Master’s Voice”, aren’t they? Their fat paycheques with many zeros in them are dependent on their echoing the lies of the leading elements of the Affluent Effluent… and they do so, don’t they? Bite the coin… there’s a lot of funny money out there, kids…
