There’s much dreck on the internet penned by jumped-up konvertsy frauds. What’s happened, often, is that these toddlers read the Philokalia or some other such book meant for grown-ups and takes it LITERALLY. The worst are those who quote the (badly translated) Pedalion and set themselves up as spiritual judges. Orthodoxy isn’t that, thank the Good God, but as much as the antics of Rod Dreher, John Whiteford, and Jonas Paffhausen are god-awful and ungrounded, well, Archimandrite Ioann counsels patience. Until they leave us in disgust at our impurity (for that is the impression that one gets from their jottings), they’re still in the Church. Being an asshat and an irritating know-all doesn’t bar one from the Church and its Mysteries. The Church IS the Big Tent… that means BIG.

You don’t have to like them or their ways… but until they leave of their own accord (which I rate as probable), we must follow Archimandrite Ioann’s advice. Just don’t log onto their websites, please… all it’d do is rile you to no good purpose. Let them be. Be patient. God will sort ‘em out… I leave it in better hands than mine to separate the sheep from the goats…

This is my reply to all those konvertsy who have “zeal without knowledge”… do give heed to the late Elder Ioann… he was, perhaps, the greatest Russian elder of the 20th century…
