Patriarch Kirill: Russia Helped to Protect Christians in Syria

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said in his Christmas interview with Rossiya-1 TV:

Operations of Russia’s Aerospace Forces in Syria helped to protect the Christian minority from persecution and killings. Besides solving some issues linked to stabilising the situation, preventing military threats, and preventing the takeover of power by terrorists, a very important part of Russia’s participation was to protect the Christian minority. Thanks to Russia’s participation, we thwarted genocide of Christians. If Islamist forces had maintained their influence and activity, the situation in Syria would’ve repeated the Iraqi scenario after the toppling of Saddam Hussein.

During Hussein’s rule, I visited Iraq and its northern areas, and I was in Mosul. I visited ancient Christian monasteries. I saw this pietism of people and was glad that Christian churches peacefully existed in a Muslim environment. Now, almost nothing is left. The monasteries were destroyed, the churches were blown up, and 85 percent of Christians were either eliminated or expelled from Iraq. This could’ve happened in Syria. Both the Russian Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church will continue efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Syrians. We also have bilateral agreements with the Catholic Church to provide humanitarian assistance together. There are different areas in which we’re acting. I hope they’d make their contribution to providing real assistance to those who still suffer in Syria.

Note well that Iraqi Christians were safe until the USA imported “democracy” and empowered Islamists (whom the Anglos used to destabilise the situation). What does this tell you about Evangelical sectarians and their loud yelps of “Christianity?” I’d say that it proves that Born-Agains aren’t Christians at all… I do daresay that I’m not alone in thinking that way.

US Fake Intelligence Allegations Echo 50 Years of Military Deceit

Experts told us that allegations that US Central Command (CENTCOM) distorted intelligence related to the fight against the Daesh, if confirmed, would repeat a longstanding pattern of the military fabricating analyses to satisfy political leaders. Last week, a US Congress report revealed that CENTCOM distorted intelligence to present a positive outlook of anti-Daesh efforts in Iraq and Syria. Retired US Army Colonel and historian Douglas MacGregor said:

We’ve encountered the readiness of ambitious colonels and generals to “cook” analyses of all kinds since the early 1960s, not just intelligence. When the truth is ugly, only a lie can be beautiful. It’s that simple. Ever since the dismissal of US Army Chief of Staff General George Decker, who tried to warn against the United States getting involved with Vietnam in the 1960s, US Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs and service chiefs consistently told their political masters whatever they wanted to hear. Since then, a series of equally politicised and sycophantic Chairmen and Chiefs upheld this tradition. As a result, top generals colluded with US presidents to cover up major policy failures.

Whenever the White House feels the need to compensate for failed policies and strategy, presidents and their administrations pressure the military’s senior leadership to provide good news to spin the story. The late Soviet Marshal N V Ogarkov was right to try to warn the Soviet leadership about the military difficulties of intervening in Afghanistan in 1979. Decker’s warning is reminiscent of Marshal Ogarkov’s later warning to the Politburo regarding Afghanistan. A recent example of the pattern was the exaggerated claims of success for General David Petraeus’s counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq a decade ago, Petraeus’s policies in reality consolidated Iranian control of Iraq and set the stage for a regional Sunni-Shia war. However, that was of little concern to the Surge architects or to the Bush White House. What the White House wanted was relief from criticism and clear sailing for the next presidential election… in the long-run, it proved disastrous.

California State University Professor Emeritus of Political Science Beau Grosscup agreed with MacGregor:

The practise of encouraging the presentation and manipulation of false intelligence at the highest US policymaking levels went back to Vietnam. This is just the latest example of a longstanding tradition of massaging ‘intelligence’ to serve National Security State interests. Since the Vietnam War, the Pentagon has been hugely successful at monopolising the reporting of combat events.

Douglas MacGregor holds a doctoral degree in international relations from the US Military Academy at West Point. He commanded a unit in the Battle of 73 Easting, which was a decisive tank battle during the 1991 Gulf War.

Retired Colonel to Warmongers Who Want American Ground Troops in Iraq: “Let’s Draft Your Kids”

If there’s one thing that America loves more than a scantily-clad teenage pop singer, it’s blowing crap up. However, if there’s anything that America loves more than blowing crap up, it’s having other people doing the fighting. Yet, whilst Americans are mostly war-weary and wish to remain out of Middle Eastern internal conflicts, the spread of ISIS and its unspeakable acts of violence in Iraq certainly brought back the war drums. Even if Bush’s invasion of Iraq created ISIS, this is mostly a problem for the Sunni/Shite countries of the Middle East to sort out.  We can no longer be the parent that keeps bailing out its drug addict kid; the Sunni nations of the Middle East must commit their OWN ground troops to fight ISIS.

However, thanks to FOX News and its priapism for permawar (they need a new “shock and awe” war for ratings) a recent Quinnipiac poll showed that 62 percent of voters support sending ground troops back to Iraq. Of course, this angered Colin Powell’s former chief of staff, retired Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson. Wilkerson’s responded to the poll on All In With Chris Hayes, “If 62 percent of voters want to use ground forces against ISIS in Syria or Iraq or wherever, then I suggest we have a draft and we draft those 62 percent to lead the way”. I’ve always believed that the conservatives never-ending love for war would disappear faster than Miley Cyrus’ clothing if we reinstated the draft. They’re all too willing to have someone else’s kid pay the ultimate price for their lust for permawar and bettering Lockheed Martin’s bottom line. I hate to say it, but the colonel’s right… if we want to see that 62 percent disappear, we need to bring back the draft.

Sarah Palin is a shameless and feckless poseur who ran away from her responsibilities as Governor of the State of Alaska to become an obscenely-well-paid media flack. Anyone who attends to her vapourings is a boob… it’s why I don’t have any respect for John Whiteford… he had a link up on his blog to her worthless website. Firstly, Obama wasn’t responsible for the war of aggression against Iraq. GWB did that… ISIS is a direct result of American meddling in Iraq… therefore, the Republican Party is 100 percent to blame for their rise. Secondly, the Nazis aren’t all dead… as one can see in the present war in Novorossiya. Who protected the Nazis in the immediate postwar period? Why, the US Republicans did! They saw to it that ex-Nazis got pensions from the German state and they protected evil filth like Galician/Balt SS collaborators and Vlasovtsy/KONR trash and eased their entry to the USA. Why, they were anti-communists! That meant that they were GOOD in the Republicans’ eyes. The SS Cossacks were “unlucky” in that they were in the British Zone… the Brits tended to be less accommodating to Nazis as many of the British soldiers had relatives killed in the air raids, so, they weren’t feeling forgiving towards those who allied themselves with them (also, some of the troops had liberated Mauthausen, so, they weren’t accommodating to anyone in SS uniform). In short, a typical Palin rant. Can you take anyone who walked away from her responsibilities as an elected official to become a Fox News talking head seriously? If so, I’m not going to let you near anything sharp or intoxicating…
