Mighty KAMAZ Wins Dakar Rally for the 12th Time

00 Dakar 2014 Rally. KAMAZ-Master Team. Russian winners. 20.01.14

During the final stage of the Dakar 2014 rally, the crew of Andrei Karginov from the KAMAZ-Master Team lost time whilst offering help to a Chinese ATV driver. However, the judges decided that they’d compensate him for the time lost, and, finally, named Karginov the winner in the truck class. Gérard de Rooy, a Dutch driver, refused to help the Chinese driver of the broken-down ATV. When the crews of Karginov and Nikolayev came, they tried to help, but with no success though. They saw that they needed to use special equipment. With the help of Karginov’s KAMAZ truck, the Chinese driver was able to re-enter the race. This cleared the road, eliminating all danger to traffic. A statement posted on the website of the KAMAZ-Master Team said, “The fact that the members of the Russian crew offered help to their Chinese colleague (No 319) is indisputable, and the organisers decided to compensate the KAMAZ-Master Team crew for the time lost”. Gérard de Rooy from the Netherlands came second in the team count. Eduard Nikolayev was third, Dmitri Sotnikov was fourth, and Anton Shibalov was fifth. They’re all members of the world-famous KAMAZ-Master Team, which has won the Dakar rally for the 12th time.

11 January 2014. Now, For Something Entirely Different… KAMAZ is at the Dakar Rally Yet Again

______________________________

The KAMAZ Master Team is at the Dakar Rally again. No, the Dakar Rally isn’t held in Africa… it used to be, but isn’t anymore, it’s a LOOONG story. KAMAZ is rebuilding after the retirement of world champion Vladimir Chagin. It’s not in the lead, but it’s only 39 minutes off the leader. The last leg is scheduled for tomorrow, 12 July. This is a far cry from frozen Niagara Falls, wot? Have good thoughts, kids…

21 January 2013. Mighty KAMAZ Murderlises the Competition at the Dakar Rally (Again)

00 KAMAZ. Dakar Rally. Santiago CHILE. 21.01.13

______________________________

Once again, the KAMAZ truck rally team swept the podium at the 2013 Dakar Rally. Eduard Nikolaev, Sergei Savostin, and Vladimir Rybakov made up this year’s winning team. Well, the Dakar Rally hasn’t been held in Africa for some time now (this was the fifth South American running of the rally… terrorism was the ostensible reason for the move), but they still hand out the same old trophies in the shape of a Bedouin. It’s no mystery as to who’s gonna come in first past the post in the truck division. Mighty KAMAZ always stomps the competition into the ground. KAMAZ trucks aren’t the fastest… they’re not the most “advanced”… they don’t have the fanciest “bells and whistles”. However, they’re the TOUGHEST… both in terms of construction and in terms of drivers. That’s what counts in the boonies… reliability and skill. KAMAZ has ’em both… so, should it surprise you that they win every year? Oh, yes… KAMAZ makes trucks for the Russian forces… I just thought that I’d mention that. If they whip the Americans every year at the rallies, what does that tell you about who’d come on top if came to a shootin’ match? Just sayin’…
