Stop the Presses! USA “Sends a Message to Moscow!” USA to Deploy 150 Soldiers Each in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania! WOW!

Firstly, note this:

In a move to reassure Russia’s neighbours, the USA will send some 600 paratroopers to Poland and the Baltics starting tomorrow as part of an open-ended military commitment prompted by Moscow’s actions in the Ukraine. Rear Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters at his daily briefing, “I can announce today that a company-size contingent of paratroopers from US Army Europe’s 173 Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), based in Vicenza, Italy, will arrive in Poland tomorrow to begin exercises with Polish troops”. Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will get 150 American troops each. Kirby said that the full deployment would be complete “by the end of this weekend, maybe Monday”.

The rest of the article is here, if you wish to read it.

This shows the real outlines of American policy in the Ukraine. These forces aren’t serious military forces; they’re diplomatic chess pieces. That is, the USA says to Russia, “We know that you’re going to take the Ukraine, and we can’t stop you; we lack the power to do so. However, if you touch these four countries, we’ll use nukes”. These small units are “trip wires”, and Russia knows it. This is a clear sign that the Pentagon has written off the Ukraine… and, perhaps, Langley has done so as well. The junta is a dead duck… everyone’s just going through a disgusting kabuki play of posturing and posing. I wish that Russia would get on with it and smash the fictive “Ukrainian” state. Then, the world could get back to business.

Dr Onishchenko is the equivalent of the US Surgeon General. Vladimir Klichko and Aleksandr Povetkin had a well-publicised match in Moscow last week, ending in victory for Klichko, although Povetkin showed much spunk and “heart”. Isaev resigned his posts with the United Russia party after it came out that his assistant Aleksandr Poglazov was kicked off an Aeroflot flight for drunken behaviour and Isayev threatened the cabin crew with dismissal and personal harm.

Sergei Yolkin peeks at the opposition between Klichko and Povetkin, Gosduma Deputy Andrei Isayev and Aeroflot, and Head Sanitary Doctor Gennady Onishchenko and Lithuanian dairy products.

Lithuanian Left Leads in Parliamentary Election

On Monday, the Lithuanian Central Electoral Commission said that leftist opposition parties were leading in the parliamentary election after it counted over 50 percent of the ballots. The populist left-wing Labour Party of controversial Russian-born ex-minister and businessman Viktor Uspaskich leads with 24.48 percent of the vote, followed by the centre-left Social Democrats of Algirdas Butkevicius with 19.49 percent. The country’s ruling centre-right coalition led by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius only won 11.63 percent of the vote so far.

The Kubilius government took office at the end of 2008 amidst the global financial and economic crisis, which forced it to raise taxes and cut spending to stave off the tiny Baltic nation’s default on its debts. Lithuania was able to weather the economic and financial meltdown, but living standards fell sharply since then, making Lithuanians weary of belt-tightening policies. The commission’s expected to announce the preliminary results of the elections by Monday night, with the official results due on 4 November.

Editor’s Note:

The trend this year, internationally, is LEFT. Wet Willy’s a Chicken Hawk scumbag liar and tax cheat… but the American media knows who signs its pay-cheque, hence, the fawning coverage of the Republicans. There aren’t enough Born-Again sectarian fanatics (including Mormons) to elect Willy, and that’s that. People are tired of the same old lies and of the One Percent trampling them for funsies and profit. That’s a fact… but as it upsets the rich, the media doesn’t report it. That’s that, too. I’ll tell you what, we just got a raise after the company refused one for six years… the word is that the minimum wage is going up after the Prez wins the election. The company doesn’t want the wage to be at bare minimum (the figure bruited about is nine bucks an hour). If Willy were going to win, trust me, we wouldn’t be getting a raise. It ain’t over yet, but Willy has NO chance… thank God for that…

4 September 2012. VOR Presents… Cossacks on the Way to Paris

On 12 August, in honour of the 200th anniversary of the victory in the First Great Patriotic War of 1812, mounted Cossacks departed Moscow to ride to Paris. Their route shall follow the route of the Russian Army’s march in the years 1812-14 through six countries… Russia, Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, and France. The march is dedicated to the memory of all the Russian soldiers who fell in battle during the Patriotic War.

The mounted Cossack march from Moscow to Paris is a cultural/historical re-enactment event, lacking ulterior political or commercial motives, funded by private donations.

The group riding to Paris consists of 23 Don Cossacks… descendants of the soldiers who made a similar march some 200 years ago.

To complete the whole route from Moscow to Paris, the Cossacks shall ride horses of a special Don variety bred specifically for long journeys.

In the cities that are on the route to Paris, the Cossacks will present historical and cultural workshops, do re-enactments, and give concerts. Besides the mounted Cossack group, members of the Russian Army Aleksandrov Song and Dance Ensemble and the trick riding team of the Kremlin riding school are also coming along. Here, the Cossacks are paying their respects at the Poklonnaya Gora 2nd Great Patriotic War memorial before leaving Moscow.

The mounted Cossack march shall finish in Fontainebleau, where they’ll hold a special event to mark the 200th year anniversary.

A special charity auction will take place after the finish of the mounted march in Fontainebleau, at which the Don horses that passed the entire route from Moscow to Paris will be sold. All funds raised will go for the preservation of this unique Don horse breed.
