25 October 2014. Why is Moriak Gallivanting Around His Former Diocese?

Since his retirement and departure from Chicago, Matthias Moriak, the former bishop, has made number of appearances in the Midwest Diocese. In early summer, he presided at a Divine Liturgy in a Chicago Deanery parish, also being present for the wedding of a St Tikhon Seminary graduate. He spent time helping his good friend Fr Andrew Bartek to pack up from one deanery parish and move to another. Most recently, Fr John Adamcio, the Holy Trinity Cathedral dean, announced that Bishop Matthias would be present for the services commemorating the 20th anniversary of the canonisation of St Ioann Kochurov (who served in Chicago). Bartek, also announced in his parish bulletin that Bishop Matthias will preside at Vigil on 1 November at Christ the Saviour parish in Chicago. Matthias will serve Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Cathedral the next day and will bless “Sanctuary icons”. Very likely, he will be the guest of honour the banquet that‘ll follow.

On Tuesday, 7 October, a Special Nominating Assembly preceded the Midwest Diocese’s regular assembly. Gassios received 88 of 102 votes cast for nomination to bishop, but there were eight votes for Matthias. There’s little question that these votes were cast by Matthias’ hardcore supporters not yet willing to accept his retirement from the Diocese. Lest we forget, this retirement came about after revelations that Matthias had texted and entertained an impressionable young woman in the Diocese who afterwards made an official complaint about him. Even though retired under less than honourable conditions, Matthias seems to be pleased to respond to invitations to clergy who showed loyalty to him, to attend and preside at a variety of celebrations… to act, as it were, as a “shadow bishop”. Matthias may be pleased by this loyalty and attention, but it seems to others that his visits are imprudent… that he should spend more time adjusting to a prayerful and contemplative life. He should stay closer to home and give his newly elected successor an opportunity to take his place in the Diocese without having to wonder when and where his disgraced predecessor will next turn up.

Shouldn’t Paul Gassios impose order in his diocese? He doesn’t need backdoor attacks on his authority (for that is what it is)! He has to put the konvertsy brats in order, and right quickly. Moriak is acting like Fatso… both are swanning about, getting attaboys from their admirers. It’s time to make both of them act like the monks that they pretend to be. I’d send both of them to the Mountain… right smartly. That’d not only learn them… it’d learn their claques, too. The Church is NOT “Evangelicalism with a Liturgical Itch”… thank God!

7 May 2013. The Pot Boils in the Midwest… Is Mollard Going to Russia Any Time Soon?

Some call me a “yellow journalist”… I wonder why? Bear in mind, “Pay, pray, and obey” ain’t Orthodox…

In the Midwest, the deaneries held elections for their deans. In 2011, Moriak appointed one of the deans. Does it surprise you that this dean was the only one supported Moriak’s reinstatement? Did Moriak force the old dean out? You pays your money and you takes your choice. Recently, when the priests met to elect a new dean, they promptly chose the previous dean, not the one appointed by Moriak. That says something about Moriak’s general popularity, doesn’t it? In other words, only the drooling konvertsy toddlers supported Moriak and his culture war ravings… everyone else wanted the nutty-squirrel nightmare over, and as soon as possible.

Rumours are swirling that a parish invited Mollard to preside at a special event, but has since taken back the invitation. Huh? Who the hell invites the Metropolitan for a special event… then, disinvites him? I’ve never heard of such a thing! No one knows why Mollard got the disinvite… this is one of those things blandly denied by Syosset. They call people like me “yellow journalists”… I know what the First Families say… my contacts tell me. Some of the First Family worthies would be SURPRISED to know some of my contacts. I frankly label some things “buzz”, “rumours”, or “it’s what’s out there”… you have a right to know what’s what, even if some arrogant clergyman too big for his britches thinks otherwise. Remember, the clergy are just as bound by morality as we are… they get a “Get Out of Jail Free” card for NOTHING.

The OCA is moaning that it can do nothing about Ray Velencia. They claim that they have no control over him, “we suspended him, we notified the Greeks”… yadda, yadda, yadda. That’s bullshit. The OCA Holy Synod can DEFROCK Ray Velencia for daring to sue a priest in good standing whilst under suspension. The OCA HS can DEFROCK Ray Velencia for representing himself as a priest in good standing whilst under suspension. The OCA HS can DEFROCK Ray Velencia for going to a parish of another Orthodox Archdiocese and pretending to be a clergyman in good standing whilst there. The OCA HS can send a public and sharp protest to the GOAA for having allowed one of its parishes to “enable” Sir Ray’s shenanigans. In short, it’s not that the OCA HS can do nothing… they refuse to do anything about it, which is something else altogether. One of my contacts told me that Bishop Mel (he has an article in the Russian Wikipedia, but not in the English one… my, my, my) was down in the dumps over some of the HS bullshit… I couldn’t blame him… you see, if the OCA HS refuses to discipline Ray, it loses all moral cred. It’s become a case of “all the king’s horses and the king’s men”… one can see why Bishop Mel wouldn’t care for that.

One of the things out there is that stories circulate that Mollard’s going to Russia. Is he or isn’t he? I haven’t the foggiest. The only thing that people seem to know is that Tosi (the clueless commissar of the Syosset Mafia) might accompany him. So far, there’s no buzz about Lyonyo or Jillions. I’ve no doubt that HH wants to have a sit-down with Mollard personally. There’s also word that Mollard’s trying to get some ethnic clergy to accompany him, to make it look legit for HH. The whispers on that are that Mollard doesn’t have the gelt to pay for anyone’s fare, so, it’s clear that HH isn’t footing the bill, save for Mollard himself, a cell-attendant, and Tosi. We’ll have to see on this one. It makes sense… HH is the Godfather and Mollard’s the latest button man in America… Mr Big wants to meet the latest cop on the beat. As I say, we’ll have to see on this one.

Bear in mind that no edifice collapses overnight. The OCA could stumble on for years in its present disarray… unless an event precipitates a fall. Mollard’s placid bovine incompetency does increase the chance of that… but that’s nothing that I (or anyone else) can predict. Stay tuned…

It’s not online yet, but two letters, from Moriak and the Metropolitan, were read today after Liturgy. Moriak’s gone (retired), effective tomorrow. Bishop Alexander Golitzin of Toledo (Bulgarian Diocese) is locum tenens.

Then, I checked oca.org… mirabile dictu! There was something posted in a timely manner (for a welcome change). I got wind of this yesterday, but my contact wished me not to post it… most probably, it’d implicate them and bring down the wrath of the Syosset Mafia and the First Families upon them (legit reason, so, I didn’t report it).

Now, the OCA Holy Synod should tidy up some unfinished business. Firstly, it should defrock Ray Velencia for posing as a clergyman whilst under suspension (a major no-no), and defrock John Erickson for his role in the Eric Iliff affair and coverup (and forbid him to appear on the SVS campus). It should also give public warning to JP that it won’t be threatened by his legal mouthpiece, and make the formal offer of a place at St Tikhon’s to take care of his maintenance. After all, JP’s a monastic… he does NOT need 25 Gs (779,000 Roubles. 19,100 Euros. 16,300 UK Pounds) for “moving expenses”). Gerasim Eliel (one of JP’s spoilt-goods episcopal nominees) should also be given a slot at a monastery, as he claims to be a “monastic”, as well (at present, he’s bunking in with Love BT on Michelorena St in LA). JP’s other gay cabellero, David Brum, should be moved to a remote parish, far from his protector BT… now, THAT would tie up most of the loose ends (and that’s all that can be put to rights, practically speaking… there’s still other things, but they either aren’t as important, or, the dramatis personae involved aren’t dangerous any more (like Iggy, Tosi, and Benjamin Peterson)).

As for Mollard… we’ll have to see what happens at the Memorial Day pilgrimage at St T’s, nicht wahr? That’ll speak volumes…

Part 1 is his sermon. Part 2 is his “defence,” with some of that in Part 3. I ran into a layperson I’d not seen in a while recently. Konvertsy and total Moriak supporter. Doesn’t think Moriak did anything wrong at all.
