I’m getting more Cabinet comments on Fatso. One whisper in the loggia went like this:
What I know about JP is this… a family member spoke to a parishioner at St Nick’s Sobor in DC and they said that the OCA released JP to the ROCOR, and he’s serving at St Johns Sobor in the District, BUT he’s still living in the house to next to St Nick’s. Someone on the Metropolitan Council is paying the tab.
I also received this:
JP’s still telling people that he’s released to the ROCOR… he just can’t help himself. He’s also serving and lecturing at St John the Baptist (ROCOR). The Monomoron crowd is very quiet about the picture showing him serving with Peterson and Brittain.
Both of these reports contain truth. No, I don’t think that JP has a release… but the people in DC think that he has. After all, JP is a VERY convincing liar… he did manage to hang on to power in the OCA longer than most of us dreamed possible. Of course, part of it is his demented little claque, who remain as loyal as ever to their wayward shepherd. He hasn’t moved (I’ve got that from three disparate sources) and he’s still drawing a OCA stipend. A OCA priest confirmed for me that the OCA Holy Synod hasn’t acted… JP demands that he continue to receive his OCA stipend in perpetuity after he switches and the OCA Holy Synod won’t buy that (one source said that JP threatened legal action to keep his stipend even after his transfer).
At the Centre, when the Holy Synod acts, the Journals (Decisions) go up that very day on patriarchia.ru… that’s so situations like this one don’t occur. It’s time to shit or get off the pot. If Paffso wants to go… let him go. However, there are two caveats. Firstly, he must forego his OCA stipend as he’d no longer be a hierarch of the OCA (besides which, he’s badmouthed the OCA Holy Synod… they shouldn’t subsidise a layabout malcontent). Secondly, and more importantly, this has to have the Centre’s blessing… AND IT DOESN’T. HH (or someone close to him) is putting up a roadblock to this… why, I don’t know (neither does anyone else). I’d hazard a guess and say that it’s Mark Golovkov, HH’s “shadow foreign minister”, and the man in charge of MP foreign establishments (which WOULD include the ROCOR). However, I don’t know that for certain… no one does, frankly. Yet, it’s obvious that this shindig won’t happen without Peredelkino’s OK, and that hasn’t come. Sit tight…
