6 October 2012. A Point to Ponder. Just What IS “Pro-Life?”

Let’s not take forever on this. “Pro-Life” is so much more than anti-abortion… it’s being against the death penalty for non-state crimes (hey, that was Tsar Aleksandr‘s stance, and he was no weak sister)… it’s being critical of promiscuous warmongering… it’s being for economic justice in the marketplace for workers and consumers. The late John Cardinal O’Connor called it the “seamless garment“. He was right… if you advocate war in foreign parts on flimsy pretexts… if you advocate the death penalty for crimes that aren’t against the state or the society as a whole (that is, Timothy McVeigh and the Minsk Metro bombers were examples of legit capital punishment)… if you advocate anarchic libertarian nihilism (“economic freedom” and “shrinking the state”)… if you defend a tax system that cheats the working class to enrich the Wet Willies… you’re NOT Pro-Life… not at all.

Let’s put it plainly… if you support the Republican Party, you’re not Pro-Life… their platform is antipodes removed from Christianity and justice. That’s the way it is…

Two Convicted For the Attack in the Minsk Metro Executed in Byelorussia

On Saturday, Byelorussian television reported that the authorities carried out the death sentence against the principal accused in the case of the Minsk Metro bombing of last year, Dmitri Konovalov, as they had earlier for his accomplice, Vladislav Kovalyov. Kovalyov’s mother, Lyubov Kovalyova, who lives in Vitebsk, received a letter from the Supreme Court of Belarus informing her of the enforcement of the death penalty against her son. The letter had a postmark of 16 March, she said, noting, “The notice was dated by the Supreme Court on 16 March. Hence, they may have shot him before then. Perhaps, on 15 March“. Earlier, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle {he’s a member of the Far Right laissez-faire Free Democratic Party: editor} demanded that Byelorussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commute the death sentence of Dmitri Konovalov. He wrote, “I condemn the execution of the sentence pronounced by Kovalyov and regret that Byelorussian President Alexander Lukashenko ignored calls by the international community for a pardon”.

Can’t you just see the condescension dripping from Westerwelle? His arrogance and hubris seep from his every pore. However, that’s Western Neoliberals (mistakenly called “conservatives” in the Anglosphere) for you. They consider themselves superior to us, and that’s that. We’re “little brown brothers” in need of “instruction” from our “enlightened” neighbours. Truly?

I’d say that two things shoot that down in flames. Firstly, let’s look at William Jefferson Clinton… his antics make Aleksandr Lukashenko look like an altar boy who never even peeped at a “feelthy pitcher”. Clinton employed James Carville and George Stephanopoulos, two of the most amoral and evil men ever to serve in politics. Why isn’t Herr Westerwelle agitated over THAT? They did things FAR worse than anything that Lukashenko allegedly did (and everyone bows and scrapes in front of them… that is, the politically-ambitious do).

Secondly, let’s take a case far closer to home for Herr Westerwelle and his Far Right cronies in Germany. At the time of German reunification, ex-DDR officials and civil servants were treated like shit by the likes of Herr Westerwelle. Virtually all of the officers and NCOs of the NVA were shitcanned without cause, without warning, and without a pension for their service. Note well that those who served the NAZI state get pensions… but that those who served the DDR do not. Trust me, it was the influence of creepozoids like the Free Democratic Party that gave us that situation. Nazis? No problem! Communists? Kick them in the face and titter like a lunatic! Ex-senior officers of the NVA had to work as cabbies or rent-a-cops… that’s what the Herr Westerwelles of this world did.

He’s got a lot of damned gall… but he’s not alone, is he? Just remember… the West hates the Orthosphere for rejecting its premises. You can’t expect true humanity and decent treatment from any of them, and that’s the way it is.

EU Council Secretary Dismayed by Lukashenko Pardon Refusal

In a communiqué on Thursday, European Council Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland condemned Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko‘s refusal to pardon two men sentenced to death over a subway bombing last year. Dmitri Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov, both 25, were found guilty of carrying out the bombing, which took place in Minsk on 11 April 2011, killing 15 people, and injuring more than 200. Jagland said, “Unfortunately, Belarus remains the only European country that practises the death penalty, despite this organisation’s many efforts to conduct dialogue on its abolition or at least a moratorium. I reiterate my call to the authorities in Belarus to put an immediate end to the use of capital punishment. The Council of Europe firmly maintains its position that death isn’t justice. This principle is enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and is one of the basic principles, which lays the foundation for the protection of human rights by the Council of Europe”.

On Thursday, Jean-Claude Mignon, the President of the 47-nation EU Council‘s Parliamentary Assembly appealed for clemency for Konovalov and Kovalyov, saying, “We very much fear … that something will happen any time now that cannot be undone. We formally appeal to the Belarusian authorities not to execute Konovalov and Kovalyov because as a matter of principle we are opposed to the death penalty and many questions remain about the fairness of their trial”. Belarus remains the only European country that allows the death penalty. Last year, Belarus carried out two people death sentences in Belarus.

President Lukashenko Stood His Ground and Refused to Pardon Minsk Metro Bombers

Belarus-1 TV reported that Byelorussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko refused to pardon two men sentenced to death for the Minsk Metro bombing last April. A court found Dmitri Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov guilty of carrying out the bombing, which took place in Minsk on 11 April 2011, killing 15 people, and injuring more than 200 more. The court found that Konovalov built the explosive device, brought it to the Metro station, and detonated it, whilst Kovalyov knew about the plan and failed to report it to the proper authorities.

This is the kind of crime that you can impose the death penalty for… an indiscriminate attack on the public at large. For instance, Mikhail Saakashvili deserves to hang for his ordering Grad multiple-rocket bombardments of civilian neighbourhoods in South Ossetia in ’08, and Condoleezza Rice and Richard Cheney deserve to swing with him for egging him on.

The death penalty is NOT for individual murders, as nasty and cruel as some of them are. Such crimes are NOT strikes at the public at large, nor are they terrorist actions. That is, both “extremes” are wrong… both the abolitionists and the Rick Perry “hang ‘em all” people are equally incorrect. The death penalty should be a rarely-used punishment for mass-victim crimes or for state leaders who order reckless attacks on civilians.

Here’s a Byelorussian reaction to the news:

Despite the hand wringing, tears, and accusations from the eunuchs that run the European Union, President Lukashenko refused to back down and pardon the two oppositionist scumbags who murdered 15 innocent people and sent 200 to hospital when they exploded their homemade bomb in the Oktyabrskaya Metro Station in Minsk. With the possibility of a pardon no longer on the table, Konovalov and Kovalyov will spend sleepless nights contemplating their imminent demise. As the cops press the revolvers to the back of their heads, the last thing they’ll hear is the click of the trigger cocking into single-action mode prior to the massive explosion that’ll send them into eternity and give closure to the families of the victims of this vermin. As he did when he was the only delegate of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR to vote against the dissolution of the USSR, Aleksandr Lukashenko again demonstrated that he’s a man of conviction who won’t back down from his beliefs. Despite the storm of outrage that’s sure to come from the impotent lickspittles of the European Union, our President’s proven once again that he deserves to be the Head of State. Let’s thank God that Aleksandr Lukashenko is our President!
