13 November 2013. A Picture IS Worth a Thousand Words… The More Things Change…

00 Veterans Day 1988 in Pennsylvania. 13.11.13

_______________________________

The above image is from 1988 Pennsylvania… a quarter-century ago. Yet, things haven’t changed much in po-nashemu land. People are still patriotic… they’re still family-oriented… they’re still faithful. Things are still much the same (despite all the superficial ferment)… in a good way. In particular, the po-nashemu people aren’t busybodies or self-advertisers. They don’t try to convert you… but they’ll be the first one at your backdoor if they find out you’re in a jam. They sure don’t make noise… but they sure do make good sense!

You can follow loud nonentities like Rod Dreher or Terrence Mattingly… or you can follow the good people in the picture. I’ll confide that I’m not alone in preferring the latter…

28 October 2013. Sulich Pannikhida Monday and Funeral to Be Tuesday at St T’s

00 Pushkin Poem Memorial. 28.10.13

______________________________

Visitation will be at St T’s in South Canaan PA on Monday, 28 October, at 14.00-16.00 and 18.00-20.00 EDT. Pannikhida will be at 19.00 EDT. The funeral service will be Tuesday, 29 October, at 10.00 EDT. Burial in the monastery cemetery will follow the service.

More than one source told me that Greg was a big-time hupaj siupaj fan (click here for one of the classics)… may he share a friendly brew with Walt Solek in the hereafter. The OCA will miss him, as he was one of the few who knew what to do there. Before the Parma Sobor, no one had a clue about what to do. Greg prepared all the materials that they needed. He did it all. It’s common knowledge how Eric Tosi treated Greg… several sources confirmed it for me. I didn’t think that I could think lower of Tosi… I was wrong.

Cross yourself, light a candle, and raise a glass to Greg Sulich… like most po-nashemu people, he didn’t push himself forward as certain well-known sorts do. However, those of us “in the know” do know “what’s what”. Lyonyo, Tosi, et al will be at sixes and sevens… they’re loudmouths with no work ethic or application. Greg won’t only be missed as a worker… his friends have told me much over the past several days.

This was a LOSS… comfort his folks and friends, willya? That’s your REAL Christian duty… all the rest is bilious moonshine.

26 October 2013. Ask Your Priest to Pray for Greg Sulich… It’s What Christians Do…

00 St Paul. Gregory Sulich. Eternal Memory. Inna Myalo. 26.10.13

______________________________

I’ve gotten input from the Cabinet on the death of Greg Sulich. I met him only once myself… he seemed a right decent sort. Ask your priest to mention his name in the Prokomidi and say Pannikhida for him. Light a candle for him at Liturgy tomorrow… it’s what Christians do.

The artwork is The Breathing of a Soul by Inna Myalov (2009). I’ve started putting my name on my “posters” (and only on them… photos and cartoons aren’t my work… putting my name on them would be fraud). That’s because people have asked me if I’ve done this one or that one. I don’t want it overly conspicuous… look in the lower-right corner… that’s where my “signature” will be.

24 October 2013. Вечная ему память! Gregory Sulich, Long-Time OCA Chancellery Employee, Dies in PA

00 Gregory Sulich. Vechnaya Pamyat. 24.10.13

______________________________

Word came to me of the death of Gregory Sulich, the long-time Admin Assistant to the Metropolitan in Syosset. He’s been sick for a while, but that doesn’t lessen the hurt. As one of the Cabinet wrote, “This is VERY sad”. I concur… not everyone at Syosset was a self-serving ogre.

Вечная ему память!
