9 September 2016. As Seen by Vitaly Podvitsky… Pushing a Comrade Into the Abyss

US Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter boasted:

The position of the USA towards the aggression (sic) against Ukraine remains unwavering, we shall never recognise the annexation of the Crimea, and the unprovoked war in the Donbass against the Ukraine will end in humiliating defeat for Russia.

Well, if nothing else, we don’t push our comrades into the abyss. Indeed, many knowledgeable observers believe that Mr Carter will do just that…

25 Percent of Military Households Rely on Food Banks

01 See no Evil

Here’s my modest suggestion… in the contemporary USA, two incomes are necessary to raise a family due to the draconian anti-family programme of the US Republican Party (they have the brass balls to call themselves “pro-lifers”). When the economy crashed in 2008 due to the stresses upon it by the unfunded Bush wars and notional giveaways to the Affluent Effluent, many spouses of military personnel lost their jobs. As this situation arose due to the crank policies of the Republican Party, we should raise a special tax on all Republican politicians/lawmakers (including GOP-appointed judges on all levels) and Rightwing pundits… we should levy a 20 percent surcharge on their incomes “to support the troops”… I think that you’d hear some loud yelps. Here’s the Vaseline, Antonin n’ Willy n’ Rush n’ Paul… note well that they enjoy fucking others, but hoo boy, when it hits them… you get my drift…

Recently, an exhaustive hunger report concluded that 25 percent of military members rely on food banks. After compiling four years of data, Feeding America (FA)… the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity… released its largest and most comprehensive study on the topic and found that one in seven people rely on food banks to get their basic nutrition needs. Perhaps one of the most stunning figures was that in 2012, almost 620,000 of the households who relied on FA services had at least one member now in the military. That’s 25 percent of all American military households. These figures included military members serving full or part-time in either the Armed Forces, Reserves, or National Guard.

However, the Pentagon was quick to take issue with the study’s methodology in measuring the number of struggling military members. Military.com reported that officials said that surveying households instead of individuals and using those figures against military data creates an inaccurate picture. Navy Commander Nathan Christensen, a Pentagon spokesman, told the news outlet, “Without performing appropriate statistical adjustments to match the survey sample with the military population, it’s impossible to accurately calculate an estimated percentage of military households served by the Feeding America’s programs based on the survey data”. Christensen also told NPR that military pay and benefits compare favourably with the private sector, and that service members can always seek counselling should they face financial problems.

However, advocates say that troops are often too ashamed to draw such attention to themselves within the confines of the military, which is why getting help from food banks is often more appealing. Joyce Raezer, executive director of the National Military Family Association, told NPR, “The reason they go to the food bank is it’s anonymous” . Back in 2011, the FISH food bank in Lakewood WA, located near Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), started to see a “surprising” increase in the numbers of military members in need of help. While JBLM offers a housing allowance to families who live off-post and programmes to help struggling families, some say it’s not enough. Frances Anderson, whose husband was on active duty at the time, told KING 5 News, “My husband is embarrassed because he doesn’t feel that we should have to be here. The economy is terrible. I just tell the people on post that I need help and they just look at me like I’m crazy”.

Stop the Presses! USA “Sends a Message to Moscow!” USA to Deploy 150 Soldiers Each in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania! WOW!

00 McCain war chant. 23.04.14

00 Pat Bagley. Crabby McCain. 10.04.14.

Firstly, note this:

In a move to reassure Russia’s neighbours, the USA will send some 600 paratroopers to Poland and the Baltics starting tomorrow as part of an open-ended military commitment prompted by Moscow’s actions in the Ukraine. Rear Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters at his daily briefing, “I can announce today that a company-size contingent of paratroopers from US Army Europe’s 173 Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), based in Vicenza, Italy, will arrive in Poland tomorrow to begin exercises with Polish troops”. Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will get 150 American troops each. Kirby said that the full deployment would be complete “by the end of this weekend, maybe Monday”.

The rest of the article is here, if you wish to read it.

This shows the real outlines of American policy in the Ukraine. These forces aren’t serious military forces; they’re diplomatic chess pieces. That is, the USA says to Russia, “We know that you’re going to take the Ukraine, and we can’t stop you; we lack the power to do so. However, if you touch these four countries, we’ll use nukes”. These small units are “trip wires”, and Russia knows it. This is a clear sign that the Pentagon has written off the Ukraine… and, perhaps, Langley has done so as well. The junta is a dead duck… everyone’s just going through a disgusting kabuki play of posturing and posing. I wish that Russia would get on with it and smash the fictive “Ukrainian” state. Then, the world could get back to business.

US Iraq War Combat Vet sez Mercenaries Pose Threat to Ukrainians as they’re Ultra-Violent

01 Private Mercenary Armies cartoon

Although American officials claim there isn’t any “confirmation” of American mercenaries in the Ukraine, American combat vet Michael Prysner thinks that mercs are already involved in the Ukrainian turmoil. Prysner pointed up that private American “security contractors” carry out the USA’s “dirty work” around the world. He warned that American private “military” bands pose a serious threat, as most are “a very rare breed of ultra-violent sorts”. Prysner stated that the Pentagon recognises no legal limits to its actions, not even mentioning its “dirty little secrets” about its corporate hitmen. Numerous American mercenaries illegally operate all over the world, and if the USA wants to meddle in the domestic affairs of another country whilst keeping its own hands “clean”, it sends mercs to do their “work” there. Prysner believed that recruiting private contractors is a result of a shift in American military strategy in the last decades. The Iraq War vet has no doubts that, now, squads of American mercenaries are taking part in operations in the Ukraine.

One should note that a source cited by ITAR-TASS earlier reported that the Kiev junta decided to use foreign mercenaries, allegedly Greystone Ltd (a subsidiary of Blackwater) to suppress patriot movements in the Southeastern Ukraine. Answering the question why the junta needed to deploy American mercenaries, Prysner emphasised that the new semi-fascist junta is extremely unpopular in most of the Ukraine, and to avoid losing power over the state apparat, the self-proclaimed putschist leadership is willing to sell off the entire country to the West, saying, “The USA and the EU very much want to secure the results of their operation to bring the Ukraine into their sphere of influence. Of course, neocons like John Kerry and John McCain already push to arm the largely rightwing elements that took power. Of course, we know that they even favour direct military intervention”.

However, as direct military intervention is impossible, the US administration is using private military contractors to invade the country. Thus, they try to shield themselves from responsibility for their client’s actions, attempting to give themselves “deniability”. Prysner estimated that there are about 150 foreign mercs operating in the Ukraine and they pose a significant threat to the civil population, saying, “They were soldiers who came out of special ops forces in the American and other militaries, highly trained in ambushes, in sabotage, and in psy-ops. We know that those who choose to become mercenaries are a very rare breed of ultra-violent sorts”. Military contractors seriously discredited themselves during the war in Iraq, shooting innocent people, and turning the population against them. Prysner noted that the Nisour Square massacre was a vivid example of only one of the mercs’ numerous atrocities, adding, “Myself, when I was in Iraq in 2003-04, regular army soldiers hated the mercenaries there, because they were so reckless”.

Mercs are blowhards. If they faced REAL élite soldiers like the Russian Naval Infantry (they’re not known as the “Black Death” for nought), they’d either run or be smashed. In a standup fight, regular infantry would wax their asses to the max, as mercs only operate in small units that are only useful for scouting, hit-and-run raids, attacks on unarmed civilians, ambushes, or guarding static assets (they lack the heavy arms of the regular infantry, and a larger unit has survivability lacking in a small group… kill 25 soldiers in a battalion, it carries on… kill 25 mercs, you either wipe them out or decimate the unit). In short, the USA couldn’t pluck the junta out of the La Brea Tar Pit that it’s in. All that the USA can do is to prolong its tenure… and kill uncounted thousands.

For this, the neocons deserve to swing at the end of a rope… but they won’t. However, you DON’T have to vote for them this November…
