11 March 2013. Ray Velencia Deliberately Misrepresenting Himself as a Priest in Good Standing… The OCA Holy Synod is Now Under Obligation to Defrock this Defiant and Disobedient Poseur

The following is from a publication of St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Parkville MD*:

The Way

The Orthodox Christian Way – The Orthodox Christian Way – Tremendous Success

The Orthodox Christian Way program began most successfully on October 9th in the Hermes Center with more than 100 participants. This adult education effort was first conceived under the guidance of the late Sandy Sarantinos, in whose memory the program is being offered. Three 4-week sessions are planned, beginning with the current one in October, to be followed by programs in March and October 2013. Fr Lou and Fr Ernie have led the planning efforts, and, with Fr Ray Valencia, comprise the panel of clergy which answers questions about the topic of the evening after the presentation. Fr Ray’s talk covered “What is Orthodoxy? History and Comparative Religion.” It was a most informative and thought-provoking activity, which included small group discussions, a light dinner, and fellowship. All are looking forward to future sessions ~ be looking for sign-up opportunities in the coming months!

I have saved the above PDF in my files. I was unable to download the photo attached to it, but its caption read, “Our Panel of Priests  … Fr Ray Velencia, Fr Ernest Arambiges & Fr Louis J. Noplos”.

* For those not in the know, Parkville MD is close to Howard Needle’s office. One wonders… is Mr Needle a friend of someone in the St Demetrios parish?

******

Raymond Velencia is under suspension, ergo, he can’t represent himself as a priest under any circumstance. Sir Ray dressed in clericals in the photograph, and he allowed himself to be represented as a priest. As he’s under canonical suspension, this is a disgusting abomination of the worst sort, and the OCA Holy Synod is under the obligation to defrock him immediately, without any delay, and without shilly-shallying. That’s what JP’s pal Podmoshensky did too… he represented himself as a priest whilst under suspension. That’s a grave no-no. Therefore, the ROCOR Holy Synod gave Podmoshensky the heave-ho. The OCA Holy Synod has the duty to do likewise to Mr Velencia. In addition, Mr Velencia has represented himself as a priest in legal documents, which I could present to any court in the land to prove my assertion.

Does Howard Needle even know that his client is under canonical suspension? Does Mr Needle know that for Mr Velencia to represent himself as a priest is a breach of canonical order of the highest sort, and that it’s not a minor offence in the least? Indeed, does Howard Needle know ANYTHING at all about the canons and practises of the Orthodox Church? If he did, he’d know that Sir Ray had committed one of the foulest acts in the book… one punishable by deposition from the clerical state. I’m not afraid of RV and his loud disgusting claque of admirers. He’s a man who’s been ORDERED to deport himself as a layman and to NOT act as a cleric in any way, shape, or form… but he’s refused to obey the wishes of the OCA Holy Synod. Such rebellion has only one result… deposition.

Mr Needle, I’d disassociate myself from Raymond Velencia if I were you. Do you really want to be mixed up with someone who’s representing himself as a clergyman in good standing, when he’s actually a disgraced cleric publicly disciplined by the Holy Synod having authority over him?

It takes all kinds, doesn’t it? Bite the coin before accepting it…

18 March 2012. A Point to Ponder…

______________________________

The Dalai Lama’s attitude is antipodes removed from the position of Jonas Paffhausen. Paffhausen expects laity to not only “forgive” the clergy their every transgression, but to suck up to them and act as though the evil didn’t occur. It’s why he allowed a convicted felon to march with him as part of an official OCA delegation at the so-called “March for Life” (which is really a Far Right farago). Furthermore, he allowed that convicted felon to act as clergy, which only compounded matters.

Jonas Paffhausen showed us his attitude to “forgiveness” in the cases of Igor Burdikoff, Raymond Velencia, and Michael Pasonick. I’ll tell you what concerns me… his konvertsy claque shares his views and defends his every evasion and lie. As the Dalai Lama said, if we must take “counter-measures”, that doesn’t nullify forgiveness. Such is also the Christian teaching, of great antiquity. Shall we, though? After all, it’s said that people get the leadership that they deserve…

1 March 2012. Things Do Get Curiouser and Curiouser Department

______________________________

A well-connected individual sent me the following:

The Metropolitan suspended him right after he sued them.  However, [Velencia] refused to pick up the certified letter.  I think it was finally sent to his lawyer.

If this is so, then, why hasn’t the OCA PUBLICISED the suspension of Raymond Velencia OFFICIALLY and FORMALLY with a prominent post on its official website? Trust me, the slothfulness and laggardliness of this has led to nothing but SCANDAL, and during the first week of Lent, at that. It’s led to a legal summons sent to a priest by another priest during one of the holiest times of the Church Year. THAT would’ve been unthinkable in Vladyki Leonty’s time! Nevertheless, if this intel is true, and I rate it as highly probable due to the source, I think that the Federal court would LOVE to hear about it! Oh, well… it sure isn’t boring, is it? Oh, yes… another kitchen cabinet member thinks that this is a rather unsubtle ploy to get the OCA to vacate the suspension (it hasn’t been publicised, after all). I’m no mind reader or Kreskin, mind you, but that deduction does make good sense and it fits the character of the principal, doesn’t it?

Just when you thought that you’d seen it all…

29 February 2012. BREAKING NEWS! Velencia Surfaces! He’s STILL Suing Me, Cappy, Mel, Mark, and Fr Mike!

______________________________

I just received a “Request for Waiver of Service of Summons” from Velencia’s lawyer, Needle. Velencia is identified as “Father” Raymond Velencia, thus the summons implied that he’s a clergyman in good standing in the OCA. Therefore, I checked the clergy directory on oca.org. He wasn’t in the listing for the Archdiocese of Washington… he wasn’t in the listing for the state of Maryland… he wasn’t in the listing under “V”. Ergo, a reasonable person would conclude that Mr Velencia isn’t a clergyman in good standing in the OCA, so to represent himself as “Father” is disingenuous and misleading. If he IS a clergyman in full good standing in the OCA, then, they should put him back on their clergy listing. This is what happens when news isn’t properly reported or when clergy disciplinary matters aren’t posted promptly. If Mr Velencia was suspended, as rumour has it, and as the removal of his name from the clergy list implies, then, this legal matter should’ve been dead and buried.

It’s time for the OCA Holy Synod to act. Mr Velencia is still suing Michael Regan, who IS a clergyman in good standing in the OCA (and there’s no doubt on that score). There are three things that the OCA Holy Synod can do:

  • Reinstate Raymond Velencia on the OCA clergy list PUBLICLY and with due publication, and endorse his lawsuit against Fr Michael
  • Formally take disciplinary action against Raymond Velencia PUBLICLY and with due publication, and repudiate his lawsuit against Fr Michael
  • Dither and do nothing

As of 13.20 EST Wednesday 29 February 2012, Raymond Velencia’s name was NOT on the OCA clergy listing, ergo, his claim to the title “Father” is open to question. What alternative shall the OCA Holy Synod take? I haven’t the foggiest notion what they’ll do. I’ll say this, whatever was done earlier didn’t stop Mr Velencia from continuing his suit against Fr Michael. I’d say that stronger action IS called for…

Quo Vadis?

Who Woulda Thunk It Department:

I just looked at the legal papers again, and there was a slight error in my address (the mail-man gave it to me because he knows me personally)! I’m also informed that the address of another defendant was goofed up, too. This shows sloppy work… probably not from the lawyer, either… he only put down what his client told him. I have my suspicions as to who told Ray my address… and I’d tell the OCA Holy Synod that there’s more than one “loose cannon” amongst the clergy. Remember, “The records simply don’t exist” (that’s what a defender of a certain crook clergyman said)…
