It’s happened again. It’s another mass shooting in the USA. It doesn’t happen in Russia… it doesn’t happen in China… it doesn’t happen in Iran. It doesn’t even happen in Afghanistan or Iraq… that is, non-war-related shooting… most folks have guns, but they’re not for indiscriminate shooting, like in the USA. People don’t shoot you unless there’s a reason… if you’re sneaking about their property at 2 AM, for instance. This chronic dysfunction speaks volumes about our post-Reagan rightwing “paradise”… why, we can’t restrict guns in any way… that’s impinging on people’s “freedom”. Note well that the neoliberals blubber about the “freedom” to own guns, the “freedom” to buy politicians, and the “freedom” to exploit working people (they ARE related), but they’re adamant that people shouldn’t have the freedom to organise in the workplace, the freedom to express themselves openly, or the freedom to access healthcare as a right (not as an expensive privilege).

The Republican Party refuses to act. The Democratic Party refuses to act. Both are in the pay of the NRA. BOTH. If we wanted to put in sensible gun-control norms like they have in Canada, we’d have them. Trust me, rural people and hunters in Canada have guns… that’s legal. It’s simply hard for gun-nutters and freakazoids to get guns, that’s all. You also can’t go about brandishing weapons, either. There are legal rules on transporting weapons, which only makes good sense.

Neoliberal pols refuse to rein in the NRA, both “conservative” and “liberal”… why, there’s gold in them thar hills and Wayne LaPierre is handing it out. That’s why I voted for Bernie in the primary and Dr Jill and Brother Ajamu in the general. We need a new way… the old one is killing us… literally. Oh, yes… the pro-gun nutters are mostly “pro-life”… fancy that…

13 February 2018. A Picture IS Worth a Thousand Words… HH Shows the Way! The Church Is NOT “Conservative”… It Never Was… It Isn’t… It Never Will Be, Thank God!

You hear much from “conservative” ignoranuses like Rod Dreher, Steven Damick, and James Jatras (and those like them) that the Church is “conservative”. Nothing could be further from the truth. Look at the above image. It’s HH with one of his dearest friends. Comandante Fidel wasn’t a “conservative”… well, neither is HH and the Church isn’t either!

HH believes that the state has an activist role to play in society. He believes in single-payer healthcare. He believes that the state should mandate that all workers receive a minimum of paid vacation per year. HH believes that the “Free Market” is evil and believes that the ordinary worker will pay the cost after the current stock market bubble bursts. HH believes that women should receive maternity benefits and paid leave after childbirth. HH believes that Cuba is “The Island of Freedom”. My, my, my… not very “conservative”, is he?

Damick, Dreher, and Jatras lie. Dreher is allied with Patrick Buchanan. Buchanan is the author of the Republican Party’s racist “Southern Strategy”… ergo, Dreher must agree with that. Damick is allied with a hate site known as Russian Insider. Russian Insider is full of anti-Semitic rubbish and publishes the rants of the unbalanced “Brother Nathanael”… ergo, Damick must agree with that. Jatras is a long-time GOP activist… the GOP is anti-family, anti-life, pro-bankster, pro-war, pro-imprisonment, and anti-worker… ergo, Jatras must agree with that.

You can see that HH and the named worthies aren’t similar in the least. The rightwing slimers are trying to take over the Church. Shall we let them? They can do it if we’re supine and listless. It’s your choice… the pro-life pro-state attitude of HH… the anti-life anti-state attitude of the rightwing slimers.

Let’s think about Section 8 housing. If word got out that the government was planning to build a housing project for the poor in your neighbourhood, how would you feel about it? Be honest with yourself. Nobody would consider this good news. You wouldn’t consider it good news because you don’t want the destructive culture of the poor imported into your neighbourhood. Drive over to the poor part of town, and see what a shithole it is. Do you want the people who turned their neighbourhood [into] a shithole to bring the shithole to your street?

If I was feeling less charitable, I’d call Rod Dreher a mean-souled, dough-faced, shit-for-brains bastard, and damn his eyes. However, I’m feeling charitable, so I’ll just say this… Rod Dreher’s professed Christianity is a complete and utter sham; there’s nothing of Christ in a man who could make a statement like this. He worships at the altar of “Middle-Class Respectability” and empty moralism, nothing more. It’s perfectly clear that the heart of the Gospel has no meaning whatsoever for Dreher and his cohorts.

Like so many, I’ve been on the receiving end of Rod’s inimitable charity and wit. I’ll content myself with saying that no one who traffics in as much personal vilification as he does can call themselves decent, let alone a Christian. I prefer to let it be. Dwelling on this idiot and his (publicly-expressed) bile does no good. I’m only one of his minor victims… he’s hurt others in more major ways. He’s typical of konvertsy… ignorant, loud, self-centred, smug, and arrogant… with a refusal to learn anything from anyone. Leave him be… but do oppose him and those like him.
