Kondratick Pleads Guilty To Embezzling From Venice Church

mucking-out-the-byre

It’s only just begun… now, we’ve got to clean up the mess that Bobby et al left for us. How sweet it isn’t!

______________________________

The former administrator of a Venice FL church, accused of embezzling funds, won’t go to jail as part of a plea deal. Police arrested Robert Kondratick in March for embezzling more than 50,000 USD from Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 700 Shamrock Blvd. The case was supposed to go to trial this week, but court records show that Kondratick entered a guilty plea on 16 October to a second-degree felony charge of larceny instead. Assistant State Attorney Erika Quartermaine said that he agreed to serve two years of community control and eight years of probation and that he’d pay restitution. His defence attorney, Derek Byrd, said, “If he had pressed that case to trial, there’s a good chance he would’ve been found not guilty”. However, to avoid the possibility of a conviction and jail time, Kondratick agreed to the plea offer.

Church leaders told the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office that Kondratick requested signed blank checques to pay what he claimed were church expenses. However, an investigation revealed he cashed 28 checks made out to “cash” or to himself… totalling 53,950 USD. Byrd said evidence shows that instead of keeping the money, Kondratick may have given at least some of it away through a “Good Samaritan” fund. The parish fired him after it discovered the misuse of funds. It appears that this isn’t the first time Kondratick was accused of stealing from a church, the Herald-Tribune previously reported. In 2007, the Orthodox Church in America in Syosset NY, relieved Kondratick of his duties as priest following an investigation into financial misconduct. No criminal charges were filed in that case.

Editor’s Note:

Byrd’s remarks have the smell of “spin” about them. After all, those who cop a plea usually do so on the advice of their attorney. I’d lay even money that’s what happened here. If Byrd thought that he’d win, he would’ve pressed forward. Indeed, it smells as thought the HS got tired of Bobby (and, perhaps, of his “threats”). Will they press Storheim to plea, too? Will they retire Iggy over the “unaccounted for” 115 Gs (“The records simply don’t exist”, as Tosi put it)? What about the fact that Fatso ran overbudget on some items? Hmm… there be a whole lotta shit in that there byre… maybe, that’s why so many flies are buzzing around in there!

It’s no fun to clean up the aftermath of a “toot”. This is no exception. I’d say, “Note well who defended who and when… and who savaged who and when… it’ll tell ya who’s naughty and who’s nice”. We could start with firing Tosi, retiring Iggy (frankly, that’s all we need to neutralise him, so, we shouldn’t do more), and sending Fatso off to a far-away monastery, far from the District and from the City (sending him back to Manton wouldn’t do… however, we could send off to Athos or Solovki, literally). If we don’t, we won’t have a real church, and that’s that.

21 October 2013. Bobby Makes Formal Plea… Shall We Call Him “Felonious Monk?”

One of the Cabinet told me this:

I heard Bobby accepted the Plea Agreement on the 16th…NO news on Monomoron.

Another Cabineteer said this:

Mr Kondratick made a formal agreement to pay restitution, plus he received two years of community control (house arrest) and eight years of probation.

Yet another chimed in with:

According to the court website, RSK made his plea last week, 10/16. I speculate this was to avoid the press, but can’t say for certain.

In short, Bobby’s guilty and a confessed felon. Love BT and Monkey James are SILENT… they’re MIA. The Sage of Michelorena Street is usually so loquacious! Betcha that they’re gonna spin this one HARD. Remember, Fatso supported Bobby, so, if Bobby takes the drop (and he did), that means that Fatso’s cred took a hit. If Fatso’s cred took a hit, it means that Love BT’s cred took another mauling, for Fatso was Tikhon Fitz’s protégé. Love BT isn’t a good judge of character; his protégés are all a bunch of Sad Sacks… Fatso, Benjamin Peterson the Drunk, Nikolai Soraich, David Brum, and Gersaim Eliel (plus all the HOOMies).

However, SILENCE from the Monomuckos toddlers. Now, that’s something that I (and many others) could get used to… are they going to be as silent when Storheim goes under? We’ll have to see, won’t we?

15 October 2013. The Straight Stuff on Bobby’s Trial

The following is what’s up for Bobby, as far as John Law’s concerned:

  • Case Number 2013 CF 002720 NC
  • Uniform Case Number 582013CF0027200001NC
  • Trial Date Monday 21 October 2013
  • Courtroom 4-A
  • Statute Code 812.014(2B)
  • Charge of Larceny-Stolen Property Valued At 100,000 USD (3.25 million Roubles. 104,000 CAD. 105,000 AUD. 74,000 Euros. 63,000 UK Pounds) or More

Most probably, Bobby will plead out next Monday. If that’s the case, he’s guilty of a felony, which makes him mud for life, as far as any responsible Church post is concerned. He’s a goner. By the way… SILENCE from the Monomakhos toddlers and silence from Love BT and Monkey James. All of Love BT’s horses and all of Silver’s men couldn’t put Bobby together again. This is boot one. The other shoe still has to drop. Shall the HS make Storheim plea too, or are they going to let Canadian justice take its course? I’d say that the former course is better for the Church than the latter is, but they haven’t been all that prudent up to this point, have they? We’ll have to see…

14 October 2013. Cabiniteer Sends in Tentative Details of Bobby’s Plea Deal

gossip_2

______________________________

I got this from a loyal and trustworthy Cabineteer (who sent me a verifiable and solid-gold source):

While we’ll have to wait for official confirmation, scuttlebutt is that RSK will accept the following deal:

  • 8 years probation
  • 2 years on an ankle bracelet
  • 25,000 USD (808,000 Roubles. 26,000 CAD. 26,400 AUD. 18,500 Euros. 15,700 UK Pounds) to HSOC Venice FL upfront, the balance in monthly instalments
  • No trial
  • No retaliatory lawsuit against the parish or the membership of the parish council

So far, no confirmation that the deal’s been accepted.

There it is. That’s some heavy-duty plea… it looks as though somebody (or a whole lot of somebodies) sat on Bobby to make him deal. Did the Holy Synod make him walk the plank? Dahulich would be for that, it weakens the Syosset gang. There’s also a guy overlooked by many. A contact at the Centre told me to keep my eye on Alexander Golitzin, that he was more important than he looks. ‘Tis true, he’s put the Diocese of the Midwest to rights and ended all of Moriak’s silliness and meddling.

The Holy Synod meets tomorrow… Bobby and Storheim are going to dominate the closed session, I’m sure. Remember, there’s a vacuum at the top. If I were to hazard a guess, the contest will be between Dahulich and Golitzin. Mel is too ill… Nikon has cancer… Benjamin is spoilt goods… Mark Maymon is a joke. Who will Lyonyo back? I don’t know… no one does. Jillions is a cipher, as is Tosi. Mollard makes the perfect frontman for the Synod. He’ll not have any inconvenient ideas of his own, he’ll beam at all concerned, and he’ll say nothing with a great amount of verbiage.

As I say, no one knows how the tussle will end… and it may not end for a while, yet. Neither Dahulich nor Golitzin is stupid. It’ll be interesting (with all that “interesting” implies)…
