Russian Billionaire Abramovich Gets Israeli Passport Amidst UK Visa Issue

Increasingly, the oligarchs are either fleeing to the West or adapting to increasing control by the state. First, it was Berezovsky. Then, it was Khodorkovsky. Now, it’s Abramovich. Russia is turning up the heat on the looters of the Nasty Nineties. I feel no compassion for these bloodsuckers. They stashed a lot of boodle in the West. They won’t suffer. Slowly, but surely, Russia is turning its back on that noisome decade. It won’t return to the USSR as it was, but it won’t return to the Nasty Nineties, either. A new synthesis is arising; it’ll take some time to show its true outlines. However, I’ll confide that it’d embody the best of the USSR, the Empire, and Old Russia. It’s all ours… or none of it is ours.

The move came after Abramovich failed to extend his UK visa amidst Moscow-London diplomatic tensions. On Monday, The Times of Israel reported that Russian billionaire and owner of the British Football Club Chelsea R A Abramovich obtained Israeli citizenship. According to the Times, he arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv earlier in the day and got an Israeli passport under the Law of Return due to his Jewish ethnicity. As reported by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Abramovich already opened a bank account in Israel. Previously, media reports stated that his decision to immigrate to Israel came amidst the diplomatic conflict between Moscow and London, a result of which being that he couldn’t extend his UK visa. His previous visa reportedly expired in April, when he was outside of Britain. Reportedly, his application for an extension is under consideration.

Last week, the UK House of Commons’ Foreign Affairs Select Committee issued a report “Moscow’s Gold: Russian Corruption in the UK”, in which it called on the UK government to boost sanctions against people close to the Kremlin, as well as those responsible for human rights violations. The committee also asked the UK government to work with the USA, the EU, and the G7 countries to tighten the sanctions regime on Russian sovereign debt. On Wednesday, in response, Ministry of Foreign Affairs source M V Zakharova said that the UK campaign against alleged Russian corruption in Britain looks laughable since London has long attracted foreign funds regardless of their origin and refuses to extradite criminals charged in Russia with corruption.

Over the last couple of months, after the alleged poisoning of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yuliya with a deadly nerve agent, UK-Russian relations became increasingly strained. Both Skripals are out of hospital. The UK blamed Moscow for the attack and decided to expel Russian diplomats as a response. Russian officials strongly denied any involvement in the case.

Sevastopol to Keep Berkut Unit Embodied and Part of Police

00 Kiev. riots 01. 24.01.14

Aleksei Chaly, the new Mayor of Sevastopol, promised residents that he wouldn’t disband the Berkut spetsnaz unit. The Sevastopol authorities intend to ignore yesterday’s decree of acting Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Arseny Avakov abolishing the Berkut. Mayor Chaly promised that the Berkut would stay embodied and that its members would continue to receive their official pay.

Chaly invited the Berkut troopers to Sevastopol, saying, “They’re decent men”. He pointed up that they could form the nucleus for a self-defence force, and be part of the municipal police in future. Chaly noted, “These men proved themselves patriots; they more than adequately fulfilled their duty to their motherland. Now, their former chiefs want to throw them to rabid Nazis. In future, any envoys from Kiev won’t go to Sevastopol nor to any other place that agrees with the Executive Committee”.

Editor’s Note:

Where is Chaly getting the money for this? Why, from Russia… but not from the government! In the USA, the government serves at the pleasure of the corporate élite… the government is merely a cat’s paw for corporate interests (as we saw in Chile in 1973). This is the real reason for the American support of the Timoshenko putschists… American corporate leaders smell profit for themselves. In Russia, however, the corporate élite serves at the pleasure of the government (one reason the American corporate élite hates Russia and vilifies it in its media). What’s my reason for such a statement? Let me give you a name… Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Russian oligarchs know that if they cross VVP, they’ll bust rocks under the Arctic sun in an ITK in the Sakha Republic. Ergo, if he makes a “suggestion”… much as John Boehner is the Stepin Fetchit running dog of Big Pharma/Big Insurance… they all say, “Thank you, sir, may I please have another!”

Moscow isn’t going to get involved in the Ukraine. That’s true… but Russian money will flow in from corporate sources and Russian “civilian” volunteers will pass through the porous and mostly unguarded border. VVP has deniability… just as American corporate interests have deniability for their actions when they use the American government. That is, VVP uses the Americans’ own tactic against them! “We didn’t send any money to Mayor Chaly!” That’ll be true… but Roman Abramovich knows what to do… he has Khodorkovsky’s example before him, doesn’t he?

The Japanese have a word, haragei, which means, “belly talk”. “Belly talk” is when you make loud pious noises about something, but do the exact opposite… however, you give subtle hints that your public position is mere formality, and that your actions will be otherwise. Methinks that the world capital of “belly talk” right now is Moscow, especially, with Sergei Lavrov, the “Old Master”, leading the belly talkers (they do have such sincere looks on their faces, don’t they? The Americans hate the fact that Sergei Viktorovich is telling them, “Assume the position!”)… that’s why the USA is so pissed. You see, the Russians are saying all the “correct things”… the USA can’t fault them in public. Russia is going to follow its national interests… and there’s more than one way to do so… all roads DO lead to Rome, but not all roads go through Ostia, if you catch my drift. Keep your eyes open… VVP isn’t the master statesman of our time for nought…

The Former Boss of Chukotka

Sergei Yolkin

For them not in the know, Roman Abramovich is one of the richest oligarchs. At the time of the Khodorkovsky affair, Putin rusticated Abramovich to the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, albeit as Governor. Nonetheless, Abramovich got the message, and got it fast. He didn’t try to play with VVP’s cookies, no way, no how. However, does this mean that Abramovich is absolved, or, does it mean that he’s deeper in the kimchi? We’ll all have to see, won’t we?

Roman Abramovich voluntarily resigned as the deputy speaker of the parliament of Chukotka because of a law banning lawmakers from owning property abroad. Sergei Yolkin gives the gimlet eye to all of that.

Media Reports State that Berezovsky’s Burial Will be in England

00 Boris Berezovsky. Russia. 24.03.13

Dozhd TV, citing family sources, stated that the funeral of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, who died in late March in the UK, would be in London at the end of the forensic investigation. A presenter on Dozhd confirmed that their “source” “attested that Berezovsky’s adopted children, especially, his older daughters Elizabeth and Catherine, took the decision to hold his funeral in England“. Dozhd reported that Berezovsky’s burial would be in Gunnersbury Cemetery, which is also the gravesite of philosopher Aleksandr Piatigorsky, who was a friend of Berezovsky’s. The date of the burial is still unsettled. For the last decade, most of Berezovsky’s family have lived in the West, so, there was some hesitation in regards to a burial in Russia.

His staff found Berezovsky’s body on 23 March, locked in a bathroom in his house in Ascot (Berkshire). Earlier this week, authorities announced the preliminary results of the autopsy on Berezovsky’s body. According to the report, the cause of death could be hanging. The Home Office will announce the official cause of death in a few weeks, after it conducts more research. Earlier reports said that one of the versions of the incident under consideration is suicide. Berezovsky recently experienced financial difficulties, including in a loss of a lawsuit to Roman Abramovich , whom he had to pay about 35 million UK Pounds (1.66 billion Roubles. 53.2 million USD. 41.4 million Euros) in damages .
