About 3,000 personnel in the Southern Military District took part in a snap combat readiness inspection in the Crimea and North Caucasus. An official spokesman told us:
A number of military formations and units deployed in the Karachaevo–Cherkessian and Chechen Republics, the Crimea, and Dagestan were on alert. About 3,000 troops and over 1,000 pieces of equipment, including T-72B3 tanks, BMP-3 amphibious MICVs, and BTR-82A APCs carried out practical tasks within the inspection.
The inspection took place in accordance under the orders of the commander of the Southern Military District. The Minoborony Rossii carried out over 250 snap combat readiness inspections in the Southern Military District in 2016.
