First Deputy Chairman of the Republic of Crimea (RK) Government Rustam Temirgaliyev said that the first steps of the government after the pro-Russia vote in the all-Crimea referendum would be joining the rouble zone and reopening registration databases. He said that joining the rouble zone would support the financial structure of the RK, and that it may be complete by April. He said, “The second step is to open registration databases in the legal sphere”, explaining that the junta’s “Ministry of Justice” cut off access to Ukrainian registration databases to the RK authorities. As a result, now, it’s impossible to process real estate transactions or register new companies in the RK. Temirgaliyev added that there might be problems in providing Crimeans with electricity and food if the junta engages in hostile actions. Nevertheless, he said that the RK government took preventive measures, such as deploying a diesel generator network to take care of social infrastructure facilities, pointing up, “We’re prepared for anything that might come out of Kiev”.

On Sunday, First Deputy Chairman of the RK Government Rustam Temirgaliyev said that the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Crimea (VS RK) would draw up a formal application at a session on Monday 17 March for the RK to join the Russian Federation as a constituent federal subject. A session of the VS RK shall begin at 10.00 (01.00 PDT. 04.00 EDT. 08.00 UTC. 12.00 MSK. 19.00 AEST) local time Monday to kick off the political process of reunification with Russia, which would require decisions from both chambers of the Federal Assembly… the RF Gosduma and the Federation Council… and from the President of the Russian Federation.

On Sunday, Austrian member of the European Parliament Johann Stadler said at the final press-conference of the international observers that the all-Crimea referendum was fully in line with international standards; both the Ukraine and western countries should recognise its results. A referendum on the RK’s status took place in the Crimea on Sunday. According to exit poll results obtained by the Crimean Republican Institute of Political and Sociological Studies, about 95.5 percent of those who turned out voted for the Crimea to rejoin Russia. Earlier on Sunday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed up that the all-Crimea referendum fully complied with the UN Charter and its results would underpin all further actions in determining the future of the peninsula. Stadler confirmed that the referendum met all international standards and emphasised that as he watched the voting that he didn’t see any irregularities, such as putting pressure on voters, for example. Furthermore, Stadler noted that as the ballot boxes were transparent, international observers could see that there were no monkeyshines.

On live national TV, on the programme Politika on Pervy Kanal (Channel One), Sergei Naryshkin, the Chairman of the RF Gosduma, stated that he couldn’t see why western politicians cast doubts on the legitimacy of the all-Crimea referendum. He pointed up that, however, they quickly confirmed the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian junta, even though it came to power by unconstitutionally overthrowing the legitimate President of the Ukraine.
Editor:
Mark this down well… the West rejects the legitimacy of a proper and peaceful democratic vote of the people… it accepts a pro-oligarch putschist junta that came to power in an extra-legal, violent, and undemocratic fashion. Methinks that there’s a worm in that there apple…

In an appeal on its official website early Monday, the MVDU announced the beginning of recruiting for a National Guard, saying, “The National Guard invites everyone who considers standing for the defence of homeland as an honour”. The post listed telephone numbers of recruitment stations in different cities and regions. These stations are to be open from early morning through to late night hours. On 13 March, the Rump Rada passed a law setting up a National Guard. Supposedly, the junta was going to form it around existing MVDU units {this proves that intent proved unworkable: editor}. Junta “President” Aleksandr Turchinov said that this force would have an authorised strength of 60,000, but that the Rump Rada could increase it.
Editor:
This is a move of extreme desperation on the part of the junta. It means that it has no faith in the political reliability of the present armed forces and police (and that it believes that response to any future mobilisation would be more tepid than the last one). Indeed, such a move will deepen the unease of professional army/police leaders with the junta. It also means that the junta intends replacing the professional army with a hastily raised Sturmabteilung, as the so-called “National Guard” is larger than the effectives left in the regular army. It’s as if Ernst Röhm, not Hitler, had won the Night of the Long Knives.
Make no mistake on it; the so-called National Guard will be a militarily worthless force. It takes at least 6-12 months to raise even a mediocre unit from scratch. The history of the VOV proved that… it took two years for the RKKA to recover from its initial losses, and that was only possible because part of the pre-war army remained intact as a hard-core cadre to rebuild the forces (and all of its best leaders (such as Zhukov, Konev, and Chuikov) were professional pre-war officers).
If this National Guard were to meet the RK Opolchenie, it’d be out of its class (as the latter are an already-formed body, fighting the only war that has meaning, the defence of the motherland)… if it met the Russian forces, it’d be a bloodbath… it’s only possible use would be to terrorise unarmed civilians. If there were any pretext for the forces to stage a countercoup, this is it. If it doesn’t act… and soon… it cuts its own throat.
By the way, the junta wants to disarm Ukrainian citizens… and the Republican Party supports the junta. Fancy that… the great big Second Amendment supporters want to back arms confiscators! You’d think that they’d oppose them… after all, arms in the hands of Ukrainian citizens are a deterrent to neofascist thuggery (thus, validating their thesis). That shows that Limbaugh, McCain, O’Reilly, Cruz, Hannity, Rubio, Jindal, et al are just unprincipled painted two-bit whores for the American oligarch class, with no fixed beliefs whatsoever (and that Cameron, Hague, and Harper share the same street-corner with them).
One last thing… traditionally, forces in the Russian world aren’t raised via volunteering… the tradition is for conscripted forces. That is, even if someone is generally favourable to the junta, their mental geography is such that many wouldn’t “volunteer”… indeed, those who serve longer than the period of conscription in the Russian World aren’t “volunteers”, they’re “contract personnel”. That’s not a minor cavil… it illustrates a major difference in attitude. The only ones who’ll come out for this appeal are the Euromaidan thugs… look for a SERIOUS shortfall in numbers.
Don’t be smug… I believe that things will get much worse in the immediate near term in junta-controlled territory. God save the suffering ordinary folks of Little Russia…

On Sunday, Dmitri Kiselyov, a leading presenter on Rossiya-1, said on his weekly news programme, “Russia is the only country in the world realistically capable of turning the USA into radioactive ash”, in commentary on the tensions over the all-Crimea referendum. Kiselyov used this as support for his thesis that the USA and US President Barack Obama were in fear of President Vladimir Putin’s leadership of Russia in the Ukrainian crisis. His programme aired as first exit polls showed an overwhelming majority of Crimeans voted to rejoin Russia. Kiselyov asked, “Americans themselves consider Putin to be a stronger leader than Obama is. Why is Obama phoning Putin all the time and talking to him for hours on end?”
Editor:
Kiselyov is the new head of a media conglomerate uniting VOR, RT, and RIA-Novosti. It looks like the days of zapadniki in the Russian media are numbered… thank God!
By the way, the Americans DO fear the RVSN. They spend billions on “missile defence”… that proves elusive. I’d point up that no weapon is 100 percent effective… that is, some warheads would strike home. Remember, Anglo-Saxon Amerikantsy are juvenile and hubristic bullies; they want to strike others, but they don’t want others to strike back at them. That’s why they desperately seek any counter to Russian strategic forces. They’ve failed… and it IS a fool’s errand. Thank God for the RVSN… it’s kept the peace… reflect on that.

On Monday, RF Gosduma Vice Chairman and United Russia General Council Secretary Sergei Neverov said that all necessary legislative procedures concerning the outcome of Sunday’s all-Crimea referendum would be completed in short order, saying in a statement posted on the United Russia website, “The results of the Crimean referendum clearly indicated that the residents of the Crimea see their future only as part of Russia. They voted for reunification of a people who’ve always been together. The number of people who came out to vote to support the Crimea’s reunification with Russia speaks for itself. It’s a reply to all those who attempted, throughout the past weeks, to prevent Crimeans from determining their own destiny, their own future, and the future of their children”. With three-quarters of ballots counted, 95.7 percent voted to rejoin Russia.

On Monday, preliminary results showed that 96.6 percent of Crimeans voted to rejoin Russia at Sunday’s referendum. City election commission head Valery Medvedev said on Monday that more than 270,000 eligible voters in Sevastopol (over 93 percent of those who cast ballots) supported Crimea’s accession to Russia at the Sunday referendum. At a rally in Simferopol, accompanied by the Russian national anthem, Sergei Aksyonov, the Chairman of the RK Government, said that the Crimea chose to rejoin Russia at the Sunday referendum, saying, “No one can take away our victory. We’re going to Russia. We’re going home. Crimea is part of Russia. Ura, comrades!” Crimeans in Simferopol and Sevastopol were ready to celebrate the outcome of the all-Crimea referendum. Most, when asked, expressed confidence that this third referendum in the history of the peninsula would bring them “home” to Russia.
