At present, the Convertodox are all agog over the “gay marriage” thing and about how it’s such a big threat to us. That isn’t so (the Church has its position, it hasn’t changed, nor has the state threatened even the slightest of actions in response, either now or later). DO NOT ARGUE WITH RIGHTWING ASSHATS. NEVER EVER. Do NOT frequent their websites… do NOT take part in their fora… do NOT argue with them in person. Trust me, you’d have better luck talking to the wall. They’re going to parade this or that “spokesman” and tell you that they’re giving the “Teaching of the Church”. That isn’t so… there’s diversity of opinion in the Church on how best to implement its teachings… do have a care with people like Patrick Reardon or Victor Potapov. The former lacks Orthodox seminary formation (but does have heterodox formation) and the latter lacks an Orthodox graduate degree (he has seminary, that’s it… he lacks a kandidatura from an established institution such as the MDA, Thessaloniki, or Belgrade). That is, neither one is an authoritative voice. DO NOT LOG ONTO A SITE CALLED MONOMAKHOS… the idiots all hang out there… all that it’d do is rile you to no end. If a priest shoves his opinion as the “teaching of the Church”, complain to your bishop… if that doesn’t work, you can go further, to the SOBs (Synod of Bishops). In most cases, that’s the charm. DON’T FEED THE TROLLS! That’s not only good secular advice, St Amvrosy makes it clear that it’s the Church’s REAL teaching, too. Have a care, the times are perilous…
