Gérard Depardieu decided to move after new French President François Hollande introduced tax reforms that imposed a marginal tax rate of 75 percent on income over a million Euros (40.57 million Roubles. 1.34 million USD. 830,000 UK Pounds) a year. On 3 January 2013, Depardieu became a Russian citizen.

Greece’s Financial Crime Unit will check the income sources of 1,700 Greeks who suddenly became super-rich in the crisis years of 2010-11. Among them are ex-ministers, MPs, political party leaders, football players, doctors, and lawyers. Greek tax authorities have a special Elenxis system, which allows them to compare income, and taxes paid as well as reveal shadow accounts. The Crime Units will also check the assets of 54,000 Greeks who have transferred some 22 billion Euros (878.4 billion Roubles. 28.5 billion USD. 17.8 billion UK Pounds) to foreign banks since 2009.

Any road, 22 billion Euros is only 2,000 Euros per Greek (80,000 Roubles. 2,600 USD. 1,600 UK Pounds), and it works out to only 40,750 Euros (1.63 million Roubles. 52,700 USD. 32,850 UK Pounds) per capita for the cohort under investigation… I think that the really big boys are swimming away scot-free, and that the Affluent Effluent controllers of the rightwing New Democracy government are trying to assuage popular anger by allowing it to pursue second-tier tax cheats. However, if SYRIZA wins the next election (and it shall), watch for the flights to London to be packed to the gills… they’ve all bought flats in Belgravia next to Berezovsky and Abramovich just for that eventuality, y’ know (they’re greedy and corrupt, but they’re not stupid)…

Here’s Wee Willy’s attitude to the rest of us… after all, taxes are for us “little people” to pay… he’ll keep his money hidden from Uncle Sugar in the Cayman Islands, thank you very much (yet, he wants to run the government, fancy that).
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious, but it can’t survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he’s known and carries his banner openly. However, the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustle through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor, he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.
Willy is a traitor. He refused to serve in the forces in time of war, even though he was both physically and mentally fit for military duty in the war zone. He had his gazillionaire daddy buy him a bogus “clergy deferment”… whilst other poorer men went to the front (and some died). He hides his money in overseas tax shelters; he has no qualms over the fact that such financial chicanery increases our tax burden. Apparently, Willy agrees with Leona Helmsley, “Only the little people pay taxes”. He’s not even ashamed that his federal tax burden is far lighter than that of many who have only one percent of his income. He has the unmitigated and brazen gall to attack President Putin, but I’ll say that Vova has the decency to keep his family and his religious faith out of the public spotlight (he considers the airing of such a “political striptease”)… Wee Willy doesn’t… that should tell you something, too.
In short, the above proves that he isn’t a patriot at all; he’s a self-centred and selfish traitor. Yet, he has the goddamned gall to run for President of the USA. “Nice” is NOT “good”… we forget that at our peril. Besides that, don’t fail to recall that “legal” isn’t synonymous with “moral”… I think that’s an important distinction for us to bear in mind, too. Willy loves his money more than he loves his country… that’s why he’s the most dangerous form of traitor. Mammon worship is treason, in spades (look what it did to Willy… he hid his money abroad, but he wants to spend it here without paying tax on it like everyone else does). Deus videte et iudicare (Let God see and judge)…
Woe to those who call good “evil” and evil “good”…

The Great Depression of 2008 (for that is what it is) was a direct result of Republican policies. The Bushies went to war… they CUT taxes on the wealthy and corporations… the only groups that profited from the Bushie drive for global hegemonism. Wars are inordinately expensive, and seven years of war in DISTANT foreign parts crashed the economy (the more distant the theatre of operations, the more expensive it is to ship supplies to the front… QED). You’ll note that the economy improved after Obama took over. Mostly, he curbed the wars… but that may downturn with the latest military adventurism. However, that may only be a pre-election ploy… Obama doesn’t want to appear “weak”, so, he’s doing goofy things like propping up the fascist junta in Kiev and making grand noises about Iraq. A friend of mine in the District said that it may go away after the election (“That’s why Putin isn’t concerned. He knows that Obama needs to do things before the election to ensure that the Republicans don’t win”). In short, Obama may retrench military threats after the political threat from the GOP is over. After all, he did so in Syria last year, and the world is better off for it.
Don’t vote Republican. If you want to know what GOP policies would do to this country, look at the Ukraine. The oligarchs sucked the country dry and the only reason that it lingered on for 23 years was Russian subsidies… no lie… the Svoboda pigs postured because of cheap Russian gas and Russian involvement in the economy. The Republicans want the same here… a feral, heartless, and greedy society… with them saying, “That’s the way the world is… there’s nothing that anyone can do about it”. Of course not… like Bill Kristol, Rod Dreher, Ann Coulter, and Victor Potapov, they’re above the median in income… “To hell with you, if you were any good, you’d be as ruthless, and be as successful”.
Vote against EVIL… vote AGAINST Republicans. They crashed the economy once to enrich their plutocrat bosses… do you want to let them do it again?
