I quite agree. Another Cabineteer sent me this:

Don’t link Mother Vassa with Fr George! He’s quite upset with her dalliance with Bob Taft and of some of her public utterances. He’s an Old School ROCOR priest, in the best sense of the term.

I quite agree with that, too. The Larins are part of the First Families apparat, but that doesn’t mean that they’re corrupt or evil. Once we have a united Church here in the American and Canadian diasporas many of the First Family sorts will have leading positions in it. You’re stupid to think otherwise. As for me, I agree with Deng Xiaoping:

It doesn’t matter whether the cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.

Some of the First Family sorts (such as John Jillions, Eric Tosi, Victor Potapov, and Leonid Ksihkovsky) are incompetents and/or corrupt to the bone. Others are “operators” but competent (such as Alexander Lebedeff), whilst still others simply have the “right pedigree” (Alexander Golitzin, many of the Lukianovtsy, George Larin, and Alexander Garklavs). There’s a deep longing for unity amongst Russian Orthodox in the American diaspora. That’s the impression that I received from my conversations at St T’s and Jackson. Let’s not ruin it by stupid vendettas that’ll do nothing but advance personal agendas and halt unity. Keep it focused; keep it businesslike; keep it issues-oriented; we’ll get there (and faster than you’d think, too)

His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon was invited to speak at the Orientale Lumen XVII Conference at Washington Retreat House in the US capital 17-20 June 2013. The annual gathering is sponsored jointly by the Society of St John Chrysostom, the Orientale Lumen Foundation, and Eastern Christian Publications. The conference theme… Vision of a Reunited Church… will be developed by a number of speakers moderated by the Rev Ron Roberson, CSP, of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Amongst the other Orthodox speakers are Fr Thomas FitzGerald, Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; and Mother Vassa Larina of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, University of Vienna (Universität Wien) in Austria. Several prominent Roman Catholic speakers will also address participants. Detailed information on registration fees, schedule, and accommodations may be found online. Vassa Larina is a traitor… full stop. She thinks more of pleasing her Uniate mentor, Bob Taft, rather than staying true to Christ’s Church. Her claim that we who disagree with her practise an “Orthodoxy of Fear” isn’t only untrue… it’s a derisive notion of the worst-possible sort. Of course, the fact that her father is George Larin, one of the most powerful First Family clerics in the ROCOR doesn’t hurt. I think of the late Fr Mikhail Shuvar’s fidelity unto death and compare it to Vassa Larina’s perfidy unto treachery… sickening, isn’t it? What would the pre-reconciliation George Larin have said if his daughter sucked up to a papist Uniate stooge then? I know what the answer to that is… he would’ve condemned her publicly and cut ties with her. This is one of the most nauseating “Paris is well worth a mass” moments that I’ve seen. As for Tikhon Mollard and Thomas FitzGerald, neither one is doing anything contrary to previous shenanigans. They’re simply bad seed. They’re both quasi-papists (Mollard may be a crypto-Uniate in his heart-of-hearts… Dahulich certainly is).

If we were doing this in a True Orthodox manner, we’d send low-ranking non-official observers to this shindig, not Archpriests, not Archimandrites, not Bishops… they’d have strict orders to stay out of all discussions… their only purpose would be to report to the hierarchy on what went on. They’d not participate in any group photos or make any statements for the Church. They’d be polite and generous… but aloof. After all, the papists are outside the Church, and we can’t give them the impression that they’re not. They’re schismatics, at best. That is, one should be kind and civil, but not encourage any papist nonsense.

For shame… Vassa Larina, Tikhon Mollard, and Thomas FitzGerald showed their willingness to sell out (cheaply) the Lord Christ for a mess of pottage. Hmm… Fathausen and Moriak did likewise, didn’t they? I wonder if El Gordo and his protector Potapov are going to show up for this Dixie Fry… it’s in the District, after all. Perspirin’ minds wanna know…

So-called “Patriarchate of Kiev” Gradually Being Subsumed by Uniates in Galicia

The Uniates are the advance guard of the papists… they are virulent and fanatical papal supremacists. Why have relations with such? I say, do attend to who sucks up to them… and act accordingly.

In Galicia, supporters of the so-called “Patriarchate of Kiev” and Uniates made original “ecumenical” progress. Last Thursday, in Kolomye in Ivano-Frankovsk oblast, in the local oncology clinic, they began joint construction of a new chapel of St Panteleimon on the 1,022th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia, according to a spokesman of the local Uniate diocese. Uniate Bishop Nikolai Simkaylo of their Diocese of Kolomye-Chernovtsy and “Bishop” Ivan Boychuk of the Diocese of Kolomye-Kosov of the so-called “Patriarchate of Kiev” blessed the undertaking. “Since the founding of our diocese, we’ve been very friendly with the Uniate Diocese of Kolomye. We have a common goal… building a united church in the Ukraine. Through joint activities, we join our faithful in a single Christian family”, Boychuk said according to his press office. On behalf of his colleagues, he called the united clergy of the two dioceses to work together, using ”common worship and other activities to unite us and cement the unity between our peoples”. Nonetheless, we know that the canons of the Church ban common worship with Uniates. Besides that, in the 1990s, the bloodiest seizures of Orthodox churches by Uniates took place in Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast. For instance, Fr Mikhail Shuvar, was beaten to the floor by a Uniate mob with iron bars during the assault on the Cathedral in Ivano-Frankovsk, after which Fr Mikhail was disabled {Fr Mikhail died from the after-effects of his injuries in October 2009. Patriarch Kirill noted his passing: editor}. The Orthodox Church condemns the Unia as a means of achieving unity with the Catholics, because it rejects the tenets of Orthodoxy and it’s a hoax upon believers, since the Uniates retain Orthodox rituals. Uniatism emerged in 1596 because of the betrayal of Orthodoxy by some bishops in Western Russia {under Polish occupation at the time: editor}, headed by Metropolitan Mikhail Ragoza; they recognised the authority of the Pope of Rome, yet, they kept Orthodox ritual usages.

Let’s keep it focused and simple. NO Recognised and Legitimate Local Church allows the faithful ANY contact with Uniates (except for unavoidable contacts at work or in society). The strongest Church in this matter, by the way, is the Local Church of Greece. This is why the advocacy of Vassa Larina and Andrei Psaryov of the ideas of Taft the Jesuit Imposter (and others of his ilk… to snidely imply that anti-Uniates are “fearful” is ludicrous) is obscene and unchurchly. That’s why Jonas Paffhausen’s participation in the so-called Lumen Gentium conference is so disgusting and vile. They’re standing against the united opinion and practise of the entire Orthodox pleroma. Get your mind right! All you’re doing is giving ammunition to the GOCs and Pashkovsky. You can follow His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and honour the podvig of Fr Mikhail Shvar, or you can follow Vassa Larina, Andrei Psaryov, and Jonas Paffhausen, and kiss the naked bum of the Uniates. It’s quite that simple. I know whom I follow, what about you?

A friend of mine commented on my site recently. I’m going to post his comment below, but click here to listen to the following drivel.

I listened recently to a presentation by Sister Vassa Larina about Schmemann and Monasticism. Too long to listen to all, I skipped to the end. The conclusions were presented by the “Archimandrite” Bob the Tough. He gave a tough talk, “provocative”. He praised the paper for the use of the expression “self-critical Orthodoxy” that “should be chiseled in stone and put up at the entrance of every Orthodox institution!” Furthermore, “the non-critical canonisation in contemporary Orthodoxy of Athonite monasticism and what it says and does is an enormous block to the kind of self-critical Orthodoxy that Orthodoxy in today’s world needs just like everybody else does. I think it’s time that somebody says that out loud”. His utterances were received with guffaws and applause by the audience (at SVS).

Nasha sestra seconded him by relating her experience at a meeting between Bart and the monks from Athos, wondering that the monks, instead of taking advantage of their “luxury of sitting over there blocking out women and stuff” (sic!) for praying day and night for the Patriarch “who lives in the real world”, made a “scene” accusing “the other part” of betraying Orthodoxy. “That was a condemnation from the monastic side that was out of place and very presumptuous”, concluded the monastic academic sustained by an explosion of guffaws. Almost needless to say that she can’t remember the name of that abbot from Athos! He didn’t present an academic paper!

My reply was:

Thank you for this. If it’s true, and I’m not accusing you of making this up, but can you “source” this for me? If it has a URL, please send it so that I can post it here with an appropriate rocket. If this is so, Vassa Larina’s gone beyond the acceptable, and she must be taken to task. Speaking at that pesthole of heresy, SVS! St John Maksimovich is in heaven weeping. Metropolitan Hilarion… why do you allow this? Did you know that it occurred? It’s scandalous in the extreme! If Vassa Larina’s attacking Athos she needs her ears pinned back and sent to the woodshed for a good paddling. Absolutely disgusting! Robert Taft is a stinking Jesuit Uniate with no standing in the Church. Who shall be our Kuzma Minin? It’s 1612, all over again.

My friend “sourced” this, and it’s disturbing on many levels. Firstly, SVS invited a stinking Uniate imposter to speak on an Orthodox campus. That’s beyond the pale… but then again, they just inked an agreement with an institution of the Episcopal Church, didn’t they? No Uniate has any right to speak on the Church, for they’re outside of the Body of Christ. They’re nothing but papists of the worst sort and SVS tells the world that we and they are part of a notional “Eastern Church“. His criticisms of Athos are otiose and just plain wrong. Athos is the beating heart of Orthodoxy. Full stop. V V Putin went to the Great Lavra and the monastic fathers all came out and gave him a rousing welcome! Bully for them. Secondly, Vassa Larina has no call to be attacking the Church in agreement with a Uniate snake. Metropolitan Hilarion, discipline this academic poseur and do it immediately! She’s agreeing with a Uniate in attacking the Holy Mountain… what cheek! What impudence! I’d look closely at that Andrei Psaryov too. I’ll say this… the late Vladyki Laurus wouldn’t have put up with such vile smut! Neither should you. Thirdly, it proves that Ancient Faith Radio isn’t a good thing for grounded Orthodox Christians to be listening to. After all, Bradley Nassif, Frederica Matthewes-Green, and Joseph Honeycutt are nothing but Anglicans in Orthodox drag. Attacking Athos… what absolute and vile rubbish. God have mercy on the lot of ’em, they deserve to dance at the end of a rope (but they won’t… and don’t call the cops, I’m NOT making a threat, I’m just expressing righteous anger at pigs who are attacking the heart of the Church). “Self-critical Orthodoxy”… what immature and juvenile rot! Give me the monks manning the guns at the Troitsky Lavra any road! Give me Kuzma Minin holding an icon in one hand and a battle-axe in the other, standing on the stump rousing the people against the papist aggressors. Let’s emulate the brave Varengoi, who died rather than surrender to the papist snakes. This is so sickening and reprehensible. God do HELP us!
