Anna Netrebko

Moscow, 6 February 2008 (Interfax):

Yuri Nikolaevich Netrebko, the father of opera star Anna Netrebko, hopes that she and her future husband shall be married in an Orthodox ceremony in one of the churches of Krasnodar. “Anna has usually agreed with me. We hope that the wedding shall take place in the St Ilya parish in Krasnodar, where Anna was baptised”, he stated in an interview published on Wednesday in the newspaper Tvoi Den (Your Day). At present, Ms Netrebko is busy with preparations for the opera film Bogema (Bohemia). She is teaching her fiancé, the Uruguayan baritone Erwin Schott, how to speak Russian. “They should be free in a little while, and then, along with me and our guests in the church watching, they should be crowned as man and wife”, Mr Netrebko said. Recently, it became known that the singer, who now lives in Austria, is two months along in her pregnancy.

Editor’s note: I must have suffered a brain spasm last night whilst I was translating this. I accidentally wrote “Olga” instead of “Anna”. I should know better, for she is one of my favourite singers. See what happens when you are rushing and do not proof read accurately? MY BAD. Please, forgive me. Thanks to the reader for pointing this out! (BLUSH…)

http://www.youtube.com/cjinspector – The video is called Day In/Night Out.

You can comment about the video if you wish. I thank you and your readers for your time, attention and consideration. Sorry I am not a fan or follower of Anna. But please let me know if she had her honorable arrangement in Russia as her father wished so.

    Regards,

  2. as I have followed classical music since childhood in germany, opera was ‘music for the people of a certain age’. anna has contributed soooo much to also involve young audiences in interest and appreciation of this ‘musical theatre’…… I know personally a group of 18-23 year olds (youngs!) who, when I showed them anna’s version of the ‘Jewel Song from Sonnambula’ were sitting with their mouths open, and now all of them are frequently telling me: last night we just hung around with some beer listening to anna netrebko on Utube. bravo anna, no one before was able to reach youth like this.
(P.S. the group of student of which I am writing look almost identical to the ones anna used for the jewel song, tattoos – red hair….it’s quiet amusing what the new auto-identy has brought about. don’t you agree. this freedom of expression……. and freedom is good !)
