If You Support Kavanaugh, You Support Torture as an Ordinary Means of Policy

Yes… greed walks openly in our streets and “Christians” like Franklin Graham bow down before it. None dare call it evil…

Brett Kavanaugh is an American Wilhelm Frick.

Frick was a bureaucrat, a lawyer. He never hurt anyone personally. He never got his hands dirty, he never kicked anyone in the face, and he never even raised his voice. He was a consummate apparatchik… he filed papers, he wrote out draft legislation, and he saw to it that everything was according to the laws extant at that time. He was a respectable man. He was a pillar of society.

Frick died on the gallows in 1946 as a war criminal.

Brett Kavanaugh’s decisions in favour of torture are exactly the same as Frick’s legal apologia for the Holocaust. Exactly identical. That is, “conservatives” praise Kavanaugh for the very behaviour that led decent people to reject Wilhelm Frick as a monster outside normal society. This says much about so-called “movement conservatives”, about the Republican Party, about neoliberalism in general (which includes rightwing Dems such as the Clintons and those who voted for Kavanaugh), and what America has become.

I’d suggest that we’ve devolved… that we’ve turned into amoral grasping hedonists who worship money and power, who hate any mention of objective right and morals. Ponder this… most of those who worship Mammon loudly profess “Christianity”. Do recall what Our Lord said on this. I’d say that we have a great deal of repentance and recompense to do. We could start with not commodifying everything and stopping rewarding filth like Wall Street scum, real estate “developers”, and healthcare industry thieves… Kavanaugh approves of their actions and of the ideology that underpins their rapine… another point to ponder.

Shall we get up? That remains to be seen…

21 February 2016. I’m NOT Commenting on Scalia Until 23 February (Wednesday)

00 flowers on grave. 18.11.12

______________________________

I’m not commenting on Justice Scalia until Wednesday, as that is three days after the funeral on Saturday. Custom dictates that we remain silent on a person’s legacy and actions until three days pass after the funeral. That is, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday… on Wednesday, we’re free to comment. I found the Schadenfreude over his death disgusting. I found the loose and verbose political dialogue in process utterly without taste and crass. Death is a matter of high seriousness… anyone who trifles in its wake is an immature brat and nasty-minded toddler; we should treat them as such. It has nothing to do with liking him or thinking him a legal genius… it has to do with treating death with its proper dignity. It’s a Mystery… ergo, we must stand quiet in its presence. The older that I get, the stronger that impulse gets. Doubtless, we’re all mortals… we’ll all face the Final Call. Do ponder that…

Alabama Loses Yet Another Fight to Remain in the 18th Century

The Alabama version of “history”…

______________________________

On Monday, the state of Alabama lost yet another fight to remain in the 18th century, extending a losing streak that dates back to the 19th century. Alabama, whose first attempt to remain in the 18th century took place between 1861 and 1865, has never shown signs of giving up the fight, even after a string of stunning defeats in the 1950s and 1960s. According to historians, Monday’s loss brings the number of failed attempts by Alabama to more than 4,000. However, even with this latest defeat, some of the state’s residents, such as Chief Justice Roy Moore, of the Alabama Supreme Court, remained resolute in their fight to return to a time before electricity and indoor plumbing. Moore said, “The US Supreme Court decided that it’s the 21st century. I say, ‘Not in Alabama, it isn’t’”.

Editor:

Let’s not be coy, some of the “religious”, especially, those that I like to call “religious hobbyists”, make a fetish of standing against modernity. That’s ridiculous. Christ and His Apostles used the full spectrum of technology available to them. They did NOT attack contemporary science (indeed, the Apostle wrote that we should listen to our doctors, as God gives them their skill at healing). They did NOT propagate ignorant suppositions in the place of real knowledge (such as “creation science”). In any case, if you want to know what Christianity holds dear… read the Creed. That’s non-negotiable. Everything else is commentary. ‘Nuff said…

CIA Chief Defends Torture… We Hung Nazis and Japs for That After WWII

cartoon-scalia-in-ice-water

______________________________

Read this. The  Republican Party endorses torture. Antonin Scalia endorses torture. Rush Limboob and Sarah Palin endorse torture. The rightwing punditocracy endorses torture. After World War II, we hung Nazis and Japs for committing torture. One of these things is not like the other! I’d compare courageous judges such as Frank Murphy and W B Rutledge with judicial scum such as Antonin Scalia… there’s no comparison. America has degenerated… the perps wore three-piece suits, NOT tie-dyed clothes. America went into the shitter due to the greed of the Affluent Effluent, not because some people lit up some weed. Money, not drugs, is America’s downfall. How many banksters are in prison? That’s why the One Percent anoints torturers and those who defend them. America’s values have done a 180 since the time of Slobberin’ Ronnie. Think of that the next time that you drive past the country club. Their privilege has a price… can’t you just hear the screams of those kidnapped under “extraordinary rendition?” You can… if you care. What does that tell us about the Republican Affluent Effluent? Think about it…
