13 February 2016. A Word or Two on the Brouhaha Surrounding the “Catholic Church of the East”

Firstly, there’s no official “word” out on this yet. NONE. Ergo, none of the internet Sturm und Drang has any actual backing in the real world. That goes for that Uniate poseur “Josephus Flavius”, too (there’s no “Eastern Church”… that’s a damnable heresy)… he has no real information. He has no more than I do… that is, word from OCA and ROCOR clergy on unpublicised chancery doings. The word “out there” is that the ROCOR suspended the so-called “Archbishop” Ramzi, who became the canonically ordained Hieromonk Elias, as for unknown reasons he still referred to himself as a bishop. I think it was a nice idea to want to bring in 60 parishes, but I don’t think it’s clear that they had intent to be Orthodox. Why do we keep accepting groups that insist on doing their own thing? It seems that Hilarion Kapral is too nice and accepting of people; he needs to learn to say “no” sometimes. It seems that we didn’t learn from the Blanco TX (Christ of the Hills Monastery) and other Western Rite fiascos, nor from those crazy nuns in DC.

One of my sources sent me this (from the ROCOR Western Rite FB Page):

These communities are under the oversight of Metropolitan Hilarion and Metropolitan Jonah as they make their conversion and transition to Holy Orthodoxy.

So, Paffso rides again… but I reiterate… there’s no OFFICIAL word yet. NONE. NONE WHATSOEVER. There’s NOTHING out of the ROCOR Holy Synod nor from any other official source. Just because a Uniate blogger is out there shouting away doesn’t bind the ROCOR Holy Synod. Let’s wait for the official word from the Church. So far, there’s none… be patient… don’t let loudmouth Uniates colour your opinion (what I do know from clergy sources is that there’s no final word on the situation as of now). There WILL be a definite dénouement for this…

12 July 2013. Hilarion Kapral Tightens the Leash on the “Western Rite”… Gives Jerome Shaw le Sabot

Read this. One of the Cabinet told me:

This was very interesting. Glad to see the correct decision was made on the Western Rite.

Hmm… Jerome Shaw was a favourite of the Blunder‘s… does this mean that the Blunder is in the doghouse (again)? Nevertheless, Hilarion Kapral “manned up” and “did the right thing”. One of my clerical contacts thinks that the Centre is souring on the konvertsy, especially as they support the West in the Snowden affair. Also note that Dahulich, the most papist-leaning of the OCA bishops, was in Moscow, and no mention was made of it on patriarchia.ru. He didn’t even get a consolation prize like a photo op with the Blunder or the chance to serve with one of the REAL shakers (like Yuvenaly Poyarkov or Varsonofy Sudakov).

This is GOOD news. Perhaps, this will lead to some sanity… for a change. Truly, it’s time for all three “Russian Orthodox” bodies in the USA and Canada to get their shit together and UNITE. Then, we could have some BORING normalcy. I, for one, would applaud that…

I got an unsolicited nastygram from a one of those “Western Rite” fanatics. Quite frankly, no one takes them quite seriously (and very few, if any, like them), and this communication was typical. Ergo, I checked things out. The vestment maker didn’t get his asking price at all… several sources reported to me that he was quite LOUD in his complaints to anyone who’d listen to him. Then, when someone criticised his pet project, he turned peevish. As I told a friend, “That’s what happens when fanatics are jazzed by their cultmasters. They’ll savage themselves rather than admit that their worshipped cult or cult leader is wrong”. As I told another, “Occidentalis is a minor list serving an outré and oddbod bunch. No one need get fretful over it. I’ve been called worse by better”. The vestment maker DID get stiffed by the original customer, per my information, and he didn’t get his original asking price, per his own admission. Such sycophancy shows the power of the First Families. The “Western Rite” is Hilarion Kapral’s hobby-horse… so, the First Families tolerate it… for now (don’t forget… the ROCOR First Families all loudly supported Vitaly’s nutbag fantasies… until it became inconvenient). On top of that, sober reflection tells one that Jerome Shaw, being a former Episcopalian, really shouldn’t be prancing about in pseudo-Anglican vestments.

The world hasn’t stopped being crank in the last 24… pass me the jug and take a hit, too. The sooner that these vagantes are gone from amongst us, the better off we all shall be…
